NOVEMBER 2009 SALE: 50% off on (All?) Universal Studios DVDs

I was looking at the current titles on sale at both Astrovision and at Odyssey, and what I noticed is that virtually all the titles released by Universal Studios (movies and TV series, old and new) are at 50% off.

Titles include:

Jurassic Park Trilogy
The Mummy Trilogy
Darkman Trilogy
The Jason Bourne Trilogy
The Fast and the Furious films
House Season Boxed Sets (Including Season 5)
Heroes Season Boxed Sets (Including Season 3)
Battlestar Galactica Boxed Sets
Las Vegas Boxed Sets
The Office Boxed Sets
30 Rock Boxed Sets

I asked, and the store manager at one shop said this sale on Universal titles would only be for one month.

Can Magnavision confirm this?

I also noticed this when I was at Rockwell. Yes, saw most of the boxed sets at 50% OFF. They also have titles for as low as P185. They have a separate booth for this sale outside O Music, reason why some titles are cheaper at the booth compared to the one's at the store.

There are some bargains to be had here.  But not all are true 50% off.  I'd seen The Nanny S1 and S2's (which were first released for something like 550/450) price jacked up to 1000, before applying the 50%. 

I was able to get a couple of titles at very low prices, but seeing that I'd paid 1,500 for my House MD S5, just a couple of weeks back (It's still on my shelve - unopened since I already finished watching S5 through another means ), I am not sure if I were to laugh or cry )or get angry)...

An officemate was stunned to see that the Bourne trilogy he bought a couple of months ago for Php750.00 is down to Php300.00 yesterday. we were laughing at him as he was muttering "php300.00 na lang to" again and again in Odyssey

was able to get the following half their marked price :  THE SCHINDLER'S LIST, SPARTACUS 2-DISC, JAWS 30TH ANNIV.EDITION 2-DISC ~ 149.50 PHP each and RAY 2-DISC - 99PHP

Was able to get the Mr. Bean Boxset at 400. Johnny English and Mr Bean Holiday at 150 each.

Funny thing is, on the Mr. Bean Boxset, Mr. Bean Volume 2 is only DVD 5 considering there are lots of episodes on it. The rest are DVD 9. But still at 100 pesos per disc, pwede na.

Did anyone saw the price for the Jurassic park trilogy? Is it 2 disc per movie?

It's about P400+. Tempted to get it but the only movie I like is the first one. Don't know if it's 2-disc per installment but from what I know, all the DVD releases of the three movies (special editions) were just one disc. So expect just three discs with this compilation and one bonus features disc.

dapat pala magbaba na din ng presyo un mga nagtitinda sa marketplace...kasi murang mura na talaga mga dvd's na sealed ngaun...opinyon ko lang naman...

That might be a store gimmick at a branch you visited, techdude. The Nanny should not be included in this sale. The sale is supposedly for all Universal Studios DVDs. The Nanny is from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Saw Bourne 3logy earlier in Odyssey Olongapo. Same promo. Ang laki ng sticker na 50% OFF kaso ang nilagyan ng discount yung orig price pa yata 1thou something. Php 750 or 650 na lang kuno. Discounted price na un. Haha. Kakaloko

As per Jimmy Lim of Astrovision, they have the entire sale catalog of Universal available at their booth in the old SM Megamall skating rink. Lots of stuff available and the box sets are selling like pancakes due to the heavy discounting.

According to the online store guys, this is pretty much a bricks-and-mortar promo. Hopefully there'll be an online counterpart sometime this Christmas season.
