Just have to ask if it's true that PS3 Slim specially the Asian version
is not advisable to play blue ray movies?
The Salesperson told me that it's not good for it's lens? Angry

Is there anyone who has PS3 Slim for at least  2 months
that has ever played blue ray movies without having problems with their PS3 Slim?

Thanks Grin

Am no PS3 user, but from what i've read before when I was researching on it for an aborted purchase,  the PS3 Slim has an advantage over older PS3 in that you can now output bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD/MA to a receiver that can decode them.  That should make the PS3 Slim cooler in operation when playing Blu-ray because it no longer does the CPU-intensive decoding which generates the heat.

This is BS.

Wag basta basta maniwala sa mga salespipol.

Had the slim PS3 a few days after it was released (bought in Japan) and been playing BD's on it a lot.

That's not really accurate.  The PS3 more so the slim version was designed to do both...play games as well as blu ray movies.  The PS3 was not designed for playing movies as an afterthought but was built to function as both gameplay and movie watching.

The salesperson was probably going to get more commissions if he sells you an Xbox 360, hence the PS3 bashing.

they would have not included the feature enabling the PS3 slim to bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD if they have no intention of buyers using it as BD player    Wink

If I'm not mistaken, most lists of the top blu-ray players include the PS3. It's that good a player, on top of being a great gaming machine. It's the standard (although not necessarily the absolute best) by which most dedicated players are usually measured against.

malamang marami pa silang stocks ng fat PS3's. Anung shop yung pinuntahan mo threadstarter? para alam namin yung may intenet magbigay ng misinfo - kung mga mall shop yan tulad ng sm appliance, di na kame magtataka.  Grin

anyway, parang yung pagbili ko ng newly released PSP slim dati, sabi ng sales lady sa EYO mag fat version nalang daw ako kase very fragile daw yung slim.  Tongue dami pa kase nilang stocks ng fat PSP's during that time.

I think its the other way around...

its the Salesperson who is not advisable to sell PS3 units specially that he is asian since he does not know what he is talking about....

hehe

Panung not good for its lens, naka dual lens na nga ang mga bagong PS3 ngaun which means hindi na mabubugbog ang lens ng PS3 if ever gamitin man for both gaming and movies.... Ang mabubugbog na lang is yung flat panel mo kasi wala ka na hinto sa paglalaro at pag nood ng HD Movies hehehe

Wala naman siyang sinabi na inalokan siya ng 360.  Roll Eyes

At TS wag ka maniwala ng basta basta sa sinasabi ng mga salespeeps they are mostly ignorant peeps plus the ps3 is one of the top 10 bluray players available now.

I have the old and new ps3 and never had a problem with it.  In fact, before i got the oppo, ps3 loaded the br disc faster than my samsung or sony players.  You can read from the av forums that the ps3 (whether asian version or not) is rated as one of the best players ever made.

I have been using mine for over a year and it still works perfectly.  i hope this helps.  goodluck.
