If you have any desire of future-proofiing your BD players to play 3D starting next year, I would suggest to hold off on any BD layer purchase until the CECs come out with new geenration 3D- capable BD players.

I hope your panel displays have at least 120hz frame rates though to view 3D.   Grin

I got a flyer, may sale ang Philips Blu-ray from Dec. 14, '09 to Jan. 31, 2010.

BDP2500 is P10,990 + 1 free BD of Transformers 2.

Mas panalo pa rin yung LG mo, sir Othan.

Don't buy it.  Unless OK lang sa yo na maging beta tester ka namin dito sa pinoydvd Cheesy

Ang advice ko, it's always safer to go for the most popular AVRs here in pinoydvd.  The most popular today are Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha, in that order.

had no issues with the player. it also plays region 1 dvds.

Got this one.  I went for the cheapest at that time ( more than a month ago ).  Was able to get further discount so I got it even cheaper than the discounted SRP.  Had I surfed more in pdvd, I could've gotten the LG or the Panasonic from anya which costs less and, as reviewed, have more features.

At any rate, I'm happy with it.  So far, so good.  Delivers the goods as far as HD movies are concerned.  That's all I'm after for now.  As an upscaling dvd player, I guess it also delivers since the dvds I play look better and cleaner.  But lately, I am using my old Philips dvd player for dvd movies. I tend to adhere to the BD for BDs and DVD for dvds notion.

It also has DTS and Dolby TrueHD surround for 7.1 surround.  All I need is a 7.1 Grin  I'm only using my old reliable Yamaha 5.1 HT.  It has bonus view PIP but I haven't gone that far in tinkering with it as I'm still banging my head calibrating my plasma Grin

It plays ALL regions (for dvd) as I am able to unlock region coding.  It now plays all my region 1s, 2s & 4s.

My only complaint is that the player gets so HOT that I had to put a minifan to cool it while playing.  Ganun ba talaga mga BD player?

So there.  I'm a pretty satisfied customer here pa naman.

By the way, to those looking for a review on the Philips BDP2500, here it is:
