BUT you can buy an external soundcard via usb.   :)

atleast you'll have an option between coax and toslink for z5500   ;)

best option right now is audition both units.  onkyo 3300 is good mas mahal ng kaunti pero future proof naman kahit paano ;)

Boss question lng wala kasi ako masyado alam sa mga ganito, kung gagamitin ko yun Acer Revo 3600 ko as Player tapos yun Onkyo S3300 for sound output only tapos naka audio output sa LCD using RCA audio cable mag work ba sya as 5.1 sound system?

No, hdmi from HTPC > S3300 >  DISPLAY
                                                     >speakers  ;)
once you get the unit ill help you set it up.
you can also do
dvd player to s3300 > speaker
cd player to s3300 > speaker maraming options yan  ;)
just to give you an idea

so what youll do is plug hdmi from pc to s3300 then another hdmi cable going to your display (yun yung out)

eh yung edifier s550?

ganda ng sattelites nya, 2-way speaker
di ko pa ngalang nadidinig

about 13k sa tpc

ang cons nya ngalang eh walang optical

so magrerely talaga sa soundcard

para syang z-5500 na inupgrade ang sattelites pero inalis naman ang decoder

May thread pala itong z5500. Had one for about 4 yrs. It was my very first set-up. Was very happy with it.
Gave it to my brother as a gift last xmas. Tuwang-tuwa ang loko. Ganda talaga yung dts nya. The sub is also nice. Tamang- tama for a small to mid sized room.

Just got myself a new Logitech Z5500 and wow! What can I say? It's just about worth every cent, no hassles with connections and was pretty straight forward to set up.

Right now, it's simply for my PS3 and would like to ask a few questions:

1)The center and surrounds are currently at half mark. Can anyone give me a + (to add) for both?
2)Volume is also at half mark, when can I put them to full? Heard you have to "break" them in.
3)After using the unit, do I need to switch it off via the main power switch behind the subs? Or the remote switch off is good enough?

Many many thanks

carlo subjective ito, but most of the time i set them to full (both center and surrounds).
sub is 3 bars for music playing and 50% for movies, again subjective ito sa panlasa mo.

2)Volume is also at half mark, when can I put them to full? Heard you have to "break" them in.
like every speaker, you need to take care of them.
mga 50 hours lang of mid volume, OK na yan since those speakers are, well built for the z5500's amp.  :)
but there's nothing wrong in breaking in (parang plasma tv lang  :D )

3)After using the unit, do I need to switch it off via the main power switch behind the subs? Or the remote switch off is good enough?
in my case i just turn it off via the remote, then turn off my voltage regulator  :)

@ninjababez

Thank you brader!

I really like these speakers, also, this was my purchase, not my wife's, kaya maingat hehehe.

Sa movies, the s3300 is great but sa games this is a beast!

yes it was! lalo na pag you had me install it for you ;)

ang bigat naman ng subs! i'll grow muscles in no time if i keep on hauling that thing :D anyway, it sounds great for a system that was just 17k.

yup ok lang.  controlled naman yung main volume.  :)
tutal it wont matter much naman sa electric bill, while your away play around 30-40% on volume maski mga 50 hours lang ;D
para full blast na after break in  ;D

I sort of have that problem with my Z-5500. Four months after buying my unit the light from my control pod would start blinking until it was completely gone. It's irritating, but I figured I could live with it.

Pero, after double checking all the audio connections of my control pod recently, I noticed the light was back on! It takes a while to get there, but it does, so far so good. Strange, but I'm not complaining.

The Z5500 has an issue with it's control pod light, sometimes it goes off and on for no apparent reason. Until it finally dies out.

My best guess on "pod light issue" problem is the improper surge of electricity when used. My best tip is invest on a good servo motor avr and a line conditioner. These never fails to protect your units. My z5500's past 6 months already and pod light still works perfectly.  :)

Weaker sub, i do not think so.. I've tried the Onkyo 3300 and think its sub can go toe to toe with the z5500. tapos onkyo is not as boomy, just right.
