...  Anybody know until when Abenson's will offer this at this price?

Just passed by Abenson, Festival Mall this afternoon, the salesman said it will be offered until Feb 28.

Mura na BD player. Sana next na mag-mura BD disc na.

tried comparing the dvd playback quality of the LG BD370 versus my Oppo 980. I have to say that the Oppo beats the LG significantly. Anyway, i'll use the bd370 for blurays anyway.

Same here, I play BDs on my Panasonic BD player, and play DVDs on my Oppo 983.  DVD playback on my Panasonic BD player sucks..

It plays but no BD Live  Tongue :'(

......However, with the price, it's still a good buy.

.....only hassle is...BD price is still steep....Digital copy and DRM sucks, plus the fact that the HDD MKV players are hassle free which approximates the PQ & AQ of a Blu Ray disc and not all movies are meant for Blu Ray encoding(well, we'll just have to respect the history behind the movie when it was conceptualized and made. Wink Grin

but in conclusion, I still think as of today, it's still a good buy. Grin

though i haven't got any blu-ray discs yet, it says here that it plays BD-Live

http://reviews.cnet.com/blu-ray-players-recorders/lg-bd370/4505-9991_7-33485559.html

maybe di mo nasalpakan ng usb flash kaya siguro di gumana bd-live or yung mismong blu-ray disc walang bd-live.

Component theoretically can run 1080p but 1080i is the max that Hollywood (using Advanced Access Content System, or AACS) will allow.

Some Players do not support BD Live, click next to know about BD Live".

Tongue

Iyun' setup ko ay pinalit ko lang sa Xtream DVD kaya na-i-kabit ko rin ang component RCA niya, tapos noon linagay ko sa 1080P sa HDMI, pag punta sa component 1080P din ang sabi nang LG...kaya lang di' ko alam kung tunay ito' kasi sa Xtreme DVD nakalagay din 1080P sa component pero 1080i lang pala. you need to insert a USB flash with at least 1Gb for BDLive use.  its in the manual.  unlike the bd390 and upcoming 2010 lg BD players, these new players have built-in HDD, so the contents of BDLive will be recoreded to HDD.  with BD370, content of BDLive are recorded to USB flash.  Wink

by the way, dapat nakakabit din ang network, yung pang-internet, i think direct broadband yata.  di yata pwede yung dadaan pa ng proxy or thru router (di ko sure ito)

try mo lang ikabit, di naman siguro mawawala ang settings mo  Grin or you can do a split, one connected to your router and the other one sa BD player basta alam mo mga settings ng ISP (yung mga IP address yata).

OK tested BD Live, now with usb and I found out that it is territory dependent, thus the message I'm getting is Disney BD Live is not available in your territory and thus was re-directed to the merits of having BD Live.  Tongue Undecided :'(

Maybe those who have other Blu Ray Titles can test their units if the Philippines is within BD Live territory.  Roll Eyes

BTW...nothing to do with having a router, since the You Tube works, as well as the updates.

Alfie, yes, Disney BD Live is territory dependent. Try Warner titles: you just have to register first at their warnerblu website: http://warnerblu.warnerbros.com/#/bdlive/.

Xtreme definitely supports upto 1080i only on either/both component and HDMI (even with 1080p in the set-up, it is actually 1080i in 50hz), I have reported this as well in Xtreme thread.

So just to confirm, as per your test, the LG BD370 supports output of 1080i or even 1080p using component video?

Thanks

Yes it does.

BTW...did anybody updated their firmware?

I'm afraid to update since I might not be able to revert it back to region free.(as indicated in the forum for making the BD370 regionfree.

I don't know what's new in the update but the unit will only update to the firmware posted by the server SW V7.159.00.26

Better update via the unit, you'll have to attach a USB afterwhich it'll download, and ask you if you want to apply the update.

From the AVS forum, one recent update V8 I think is not recommended since it causes pixellizations.

When I 1st used the LG I was really impressed since it loads much faster than teh Samsung BD that was demonstrated to me a few months ago, and now I realized the others take long to load due to the incorporated HDD, since when I attached initally a 2G Flash drive and later with the update a 4G capacity, it loads about 3-5 minutes prior to the discs screen pre-menu,and when I checked the Flash dribve, it now has a BUDA folder, which is probably for the BDLive and other downloads.

Oh yes, better apply the Region free hack first without any internet connection, since if there is it'll ask you to update and the hack wont apply as indicated in the thread-link that was provided in the 1st page.

BTW....I don't know of any improvement, but I'm glad it's still region free after appluying the update. Wink Grin
