Hi PinoyDVD Gurus!!!

Will this setup upscale my PS3 to 1080p? My TV upscales to 1080p only via HDMI.

Note: The reason why I dont use the HDMI port on my ps3 is because I busted it before(pumutok) huhuhu.

Any inputs would be highly appreciated! Moderators, I am not sure if this is the right thread for this topic, please move this just incase. Thanks alot. Smiley

So in short your PS3 HDMI out is busted, meaning no longer working? If that's the case then there's no way you can send out HD signal from your PS3 to your display devices. As far as I know if you will use the old school RGB component cable provided for the PS3 it will only transmit analog signal up to 480p display. Maybe there's a possibility to upscale the display using AV receiver but don't expect to have HD display, more or less just an upscale version of the analog signal which will kind a look like a crap....  :'(

The Ps3 can output in 720p & 1080i via Component.
However, not all games support it. I only know MGS4 & Batman can output in 720p/1080i

Other games will output in 480p lang.

I do not know if the receiver will upscale a 480i image coming from component cables.

Im using component for PS3 to output to my projector. So far, all games that I play in the projector (PS3 settings is 720p via component) are displayed as 720p. Grin  haven't encountered any issue with the output via component.. hope this helps. Cheesy

aside from MGS4 and Batman, I also tried the ff games in the projector:

1. Tekken 6
2. SF4
3. Devil May Cry 4
4. God of War 1-3
5. Heavy Rain

etc.

All of them displayed as 720p via component.Grin

What's your projector bro?

I think your projector has an internal scaler that upscales the Ps3 signal  Smiley
