I have E8HD v9.10, how do i "sort or arrange by name" movie files? like episode 1 to 100 like that in order, mine seems scrambled and not in order.

Accessing my files through network HDD (ext4).

Im sure i did not encounter this problem before when the hard drive was internal to E8HD and in ntfs format. Now when i moved the HDD to other network system in etx4 format and accessing network the files, the order/sort seems to be messed up and no option to arrange it in E8HD? Like arrange/sort by name, type, date etc.

while on file manager, hit the left button beside digit "0" (one with Menu) text it will ask list/display modes then there's the sort.

@garfield03: my email address is [email protected]

Choose any firmware you want for your E8HDL...latest is 3.05
Place the img file in a flash drive root directory. Plug in the unit USB slot.

get a paper clip or any pointed object. Pitch and hold the reset hole at the back of the unit while you power on the device.

wait until upgrading/downgrading started then release your hold of the reset hole.

done....

I think i have a different variant of E8HD, since no sort whatsoever only list/location when you press that button,
But the only solution is to use NTFS format, so it will be sorted via name if written on your file system, if your unit does not have sort capabilities, because ext4 puts files in random order. Haven't tried ext3 ill try it tomorrow.

Now, i have tried also XFS and EXT2 to use it in your linux media server if you have one so it will be sorted by name when written in the file system so your E8HD which is not capable of sorting will be automatically sorted out, because using EXT3, EXT4, ReiserFS but with same not sorted on name result.

I wont be using EXT2 because its old and does not support journaling, while NTFS is not linux native, not unless im using a windows media server, so i chose XFS.

*just posted it here for info and future reference for other users.

may new firmware na ba for E8HDL? been having problems with the unit. has anyone experienced their unit just stop and hang. then there's also the annoying problem of some files getting corrupted, na eventhough you already finished playing the file, you come back later and it won't play anymore.

3.05 still the latest. You can try to re-flash. Check also the free space on the Hard drive.

recently acquired a few high resolution flacs (hdtracks). can the e8hdl handle 24 bit 96khz files or will it downsample them back to 16 bit 44khz? tried looking for info on the net pero wala akong makita. can anyone confirm if they can? thanks

We've released a new FW for our model E8HDL with RTD1185 chipset.

New fw feature is DLNA function, so customer can play their iPhone, or Android phone videos, music and photos through media player on TV screen conveniently.

Please download the new FW from the following link:

successfully downloaded and installed the new firmware. spent a few minutes tinkering with the thing and here are what i noticed so far:

-different look with smaller font size (bad news for people with poor eyesight i guess)
-continuous play on flac files (finally!)
-page up/ down / next chapter is reversed (not a deal breaker but kinda confusing nonetheless)
-file system now alphabetical irregrdless if it's a folder or a file (used to see folders first then single files)
-front panel reverts to having no display while playing music (the original had none then the january update fixed it now it's gone again)
-there's hdmi auto now (very convenient, now i don't have to manually go into the audio setup to have the measy decode AAC while setting it to raw when playing DTS or Dolby. when set to auto, the unit will pass through dts and DD while it will decode aac natively. very good indeed)
-lost ability to double tap on timeseek (though you can now just press left or right to scan while time seek still works perfectly)
-no more shortcut for movies, pictures, music (never had much use for them in the first place though)
-auto shutdown after 3 hours of inactivity (together with continuous music play this is very good for bedtime music sessions!)
-front display is all messed up though (as in!)

obviously there are welcome improvements but the quirks are still there. this may be a beta release though and may get tweaked real soon so there is hope my friends.

one more thing i noticed with the newer firmware: aac 5.1 cannot be downmixed to stereo. ac3 and dts are downmixed just fine, but if you play a file with 5.1 aac you can't hear the dialog in stereo

it plays the file. but the audio part i think 5.1 pa rin siya but since yung tv walang center ang naririnig mo lang talaga ay yung sound effects. so the dialog (which is usually delegated to the center channel) is barely audible. napansin ko lang kasi ginamit ko siya directly plugged to an lcd tv via hdmi, usual setup ko kasi naka connect pa sa multi channel reciever. so kapansin pansin yung absence nung middle channel. i tried setting hdmi to lpcm but still the same. ac3 and dts downmixes to stereo just fine. hopefully ma adress sa next firmware  :)

Got it..so for E8HDL, stick to the firmware 3.05 or the one that comes with the unit. Don't upgrade it to the fw with DLNA function yet until it is fix.
