Maybe your unit is auto-volt 110-220v?

Try it again tom for a longer period. From my experience generally when this happens it wont work anymore. So i hope it works fine then maybe its an autovolt. I also use the same player.

I think there is only Sony BDP S360. If the OP unit is really 110v only & accidentally plugged into a 220v outlet then his unit should no longer work (I did that to my 110v HD DVD player & Xbox 360....smokes came out immediately & Kaput!... ) It seems OP's unit still in working condition after inserted into 220v so I think it should be auto volt otherwise it won't be working na... Lots of Sony equips are autovolt nowdays.

Most likely a mechanical problem. Lens might need cleaning and alignment.

Almost new? What a bummer.
You need to file a warranty claim.

Simon I tried this before on my brother's vintage AMP 110v then I accidentally plugged it in directly to the outlet, smoke came out & cracking sounds also. I just tried to pull out the power cord right away & let it cool down for the whole day then I tried to test it again the next day everything seems ok. Confusing But good enough seems nothing is malfunctioning after this accident. Although this is an old amp while your BLU-RAY unit we all know have a more complicated design. If its working ok na siguro yan or gusto ka pa check para sigurado baka mai long term effect, not so sure about this. GoodLuck
