Just saw RED last night. As far as Willis movies go, this is quite entertaining. Robert Schwentke's direction is quite passable, there were moments when I thought the shots were quite fresh. I still prefer his work in Flightplan though, it's more restrained and managed to create tension within very limited environment.

Great work by Mirren and Cox as usual. And someone should really give Richard Dreyfuss more roles.

Dude!

No mention of Mary-Louise Parker?Huh  Grin

star wars episode 4

the news of all six films coming out on blu come september had me itching to dust off my sw trilogy and watch this again.  what else do you need to be say about a movie that literally changed the way blockbusters summer movies were made?  it never gets tiring and that scene with the stormtooper bumping his head?  priceless and funny!

Die Hard
Definitely the best action movie ever made.
All characters, even the small roles are memorable.
From the plane passenger to Argyle to the annoying news reporter.
Memorable villain, raw action and no CG tricks.

Always fun to watch.

Petrang Kabayo

-sarcastic remarks are the strong points of Vice Ganda's comedic style. He is so fit in the role of man-horse although I find the Paulate original better.

I'll Be There

-what more could a father daughter role be more realistic than putting Gabby and KC Concepcion in it. They delivered the characters so well with so much emotion.  A lot to be learned about relationships from this movie. Hard to admit but I love this cheezy movie!

Ice Castles 2010

The main character was portrayed by a real world-class ice skater hence her moves actually looked a lot more impressive than the original one.

I find the changes they made on the storyline towards the final competition as appropriate.  It would have been too passe to stick to the original.

The emotional aspect of the original feels stronger; father-daughter relationship, as well as the relationship with the coach and boyfriend.

The theme song is still the same (GOOD), but sounds like Miley Cyrus version.    Grin Angry Grin Angry Grin Angry

Going the Distance

Cutesy film.  Started out okay but i just felt it fizzled out towards the ending.  Good soundtrack.  Had enough laughs to make me go the distance till the credits.  But honestly, I almost fell asleep.  Luckily, my wife is a sucker for movies like these so she kept nudging me.  Roll Eyes

Frost/Nixon

Never been a fan of "historical" films but this one's a winner.  Great acting by Sheen as David Frost and an unlikely Nixon, Frank Langella.  No wonder it got nominated for best picture.  Now, I'm gonna watch that actual Frost/Nixon interview...

Die Hard With a Vengeance - my least favorite DH installment but I find it more OK on DVD than when I 1st saw it on cinemas in 1995. Samuel Jackson isn't that very popular pa yata rito

Live Free or Die Hard (unrated) - my 2nd favorite DH. My interest with the DH series waned a little with each installment due to McClane's ever growing playground. I was pleasantly surprised when I liked this very much upon watching in 2007

Queen Rock Montreal - I'm partial to the Eagles when it comes to 70's rock icons but I have to admit Freddy Mercury is the man when it comes to live showmanship. He owned the stage as always. Now I'm looking forward to Live in Wembley which I heard is better.

Buried

-A movie doesn't have to be high budgeted to be interesting. The entire movie was just shot in a wooden coffin with Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) in it.  With that small single space, I felt like I was buried alive with him. Ryan Reynolds marvelous acting just made me finish this movie and left me speechless at the end.

batman returns

this remains my favorite among the first four bat flicks.  it's not without it's cheesy moments (the announcer in cobblepot's lair)and like the first one could have benefited from more bats screen time but michelle pfeiffer's catwoman totally steals the show here from keaton and de vito.  anne hathaway is going to have a hard time topping that performance.

Genghis Bond (Agent 1-2-3)

A 1965 Dolphy movie featuring a very young Babalu in his first starring role.  Also starred Alona Alegre, a sexy Lucita Soriano and Aruray who my two kids thought was Pokwang.  Also doing cameo roles were Tange (in a gangster role) and Roberto Gonzales as himself being the karate teacher of Dolphy.  WOW!  Had so much fun and lough out loud moments together with my 10 year old.  To Dolphy and Babalu fans, you've seen the jokes a hundred times but you can't seem to stop laughing. Man, they don't do comedies like this anymore.

PQ is OK for me.  It's the dirty black and white film of yesteryears so don't expect too much.  Audio is a bit of a letdown.  Medyo maingay nga lang.   But still, just seeing Pidol and Babalu together will make you happy.

At P175, this DVD is a gem!  Now, if and when i find a Kalabog en Bosyo DVD, that will be awesome!!!

Supernatural Season 1

-at first, it was interesting but as I was watching it, the episodes had a lot of loopholes. Kinda slow at building up the story then hurriedly finishing it leaving a lot of questions behind. I just love the funny character of Dean though which gives me the reason to watch the next episode. For my 7 year old it is an interesting light mystery/horror watch.

On to Season 2...

Iron Man 2
I saw it in theaters, and just watched it on DVD for the second time. Still quite disappointed. I dunno, I guess it just lacked a little bit of something. It was still pretty good though.

Death Race 2

-This movie is a prequel to the original.  It has the gore, action & bloody show of Death Race 1.  Superb non stop adrenaline pumping action from start to finish! Total carnage!!!
