I wanted to back up the movie into a disk which will have a subtitle. The subtitle file  extentions are.idx and .sub.

regular set-top boxes can read .idx and .srt subtitles.  Just make sure to name them the same as the video file.

I used Dvdfab soft when I backed up my Dvds. it has an option on subs & audio format. you can DL & search for the code.  Smiley

how do you name them as the same video file?
the main movie in .avi file and
the subtitle file is in .idx  and .sub.

Here's sample file name of movie & subs:

<movie name>.avi/mkv
<movie name>.idx
<movie name>.sub

Note: movie & sub's name must be the same.  Smiley

what would be a good software program for burning the movie with subtitle feature?
and perhaps with a preview feature so that you would have an idea if the subtitle would be synchronized with the movie?

Thanks, sir audiojunkie. But aside from Dvdfab, what are the other choices?

It's been sometime now the last time I use the software. AFAIK, srt is the sub format generated by the sw but you can add other sub format from other sources.
