If i will avail of HD channels, which is better, Cignal or Sky? i'm considering cost, service, signal strength (esp. when there is rain or typhoon) and most number of good channels.

Cignal seems to be gaining ground, for a pure digital HD signal source.  Rains or typhoon, sabi ng Cignal di na problema kasi they have a huge satellite dish unlike the previous satellite dish providers.  Service wise, mukhang ok naman kasi PLDT owned to.  And yes, cheaper.

Been wanting to shift to Cignal (from my SKY) kaya lang, mawawala yun Channel 26 Teledradyo DZMM ko which is exclusive to SKY.  He he Grin

You just need to look for the thread of Cignal users. The transmission still disappears when it rains.

Cignal for me (yes, I'm a Sky HD subscriber). I prefer Cignal because they have surround sound encoded programming for certain HD channels, while Skycable HD only has 2 channel audio. We use Cignal HD in the office, and it's been quite reliable so far (I guess it depends on the location and the dish installation/aim).

As for programming, Cignal has Food Network HD and StarWorld HD, while Sky has Fox Crime HD. Price is almost the same, with Cignal being cheaper by about 108 pesos per month for a similar channel lineup. Cignal had waived the receiver and installation fee for HD subscribers (aside from an initial lease fee of 1290), versus Sky's 5000 peso charge for the HD box, plus installation charge (I don't know if they've changed the prices though).

However, if you're after an extensive SD Channel lineup, then Sky would have you covered (Gold + Platinum packs).

+1, madalas mainis dad ko pag umuulan at lalo na pag na tiempo na Balita na. but overall maganda talaga HD lineup and quality kahit ng SD channels. and not to forget ang mura ng PPV nila

thanks for your replies. actually my priority is the HD channels, since i will maintain my existing cable (cablelink, i'm from paranaque) because we are using 5 tv and only 2 are LED/LCD (full HD). split ko na lang signal from my bedroom and living room para maenjoy HD channels.

You need separate outlets and set-top boxes either way (unless you want both TVs to display the same channel).

If you want more HD channels go for Cignal. May rumors din na madadagdagan ung lineup ng HD channels ng Cignal this year so watch out for it. Sana Balls HD yun. hehe. Ang hinahanap ko lng na channel na wala sa Cignal is yung Animax,'coz of Alodia  Wink, and Jack TV.

As for the Signal of Cignal, ok naman sya minsan lang talaga tinotopak kaya walang signal pero nung kay bagyong Juaning hindi naman nawala yung Signal.  Grin At least for Las PiƱas area. Smiley
