Blu-ray rot, will it happen??? I am not sure if there is an existing thread but if there is, please merge it. TIA

I was wondering if this will happen to them as well, unfortunately I have DVDs that just suddenly did not work, even if i checked the DVD for any scratches, none for my Finding Nemo R1 and Con Air R3 DVDs. Hope this does not happen to my staring collection of Blu-ray.

I wonder what may have caused this rot?

Good question. I've experienced HD DVD rot but not Bluray rot. Haven't heard of anyone yet that has experienced bluray rot.

Blu-ray rot, will it happen???

It already has: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=857067

If you happen to be in V-Mall Greenhills, go to Cardinal Audio.  They have some second-hand BDs for sale.  Look at their second-hand copy of The Prestige BD.  It has BD rot.

But don't worry too much.  Blu-ray rot is very unusual, and Blu-ray is the most rot-resistant optical format so far.

I wonder what may have caused this rot?

Physical and/or chemical deterioration.

All physical video media deteriorate.

I hope na nde sya lalaganap masyado compared sa ibang format... that is a sad reality though. pag amag ng cassette tapes at vinyl at dvd rot...

hoping having a better cabinet in storing those blu rays will help, maybe even watching those collections at least after 4 or 5 months may prevent this as well..

Tama yan.

That's why my collection has always been very small.

If you buy only the titles you really love, I'm sure konti lang ang magiging titles ng collection mo.
