newbie: vga to hdmi? or usb to hdmi

I have an old acer laptop that only has VGA and s-video but no HDMI out port. what is the best way to connect it to HDTV thru HDMI?

VGA to HDMI adaptor or USB to HDMI?

Ive seen one in CDR king: has anyone tried this out?

dude, i havent tried sVGA to HDMI or USB to HDMI for myself but remember this :

*sVGA to HDMI - no audio, you will only get video in this connection.

*USB to HDMI - based from the cd-r king adaptor, you will get both audio and video in this connection.

option:
*sVGA (laptop) to sVGA (HDTV) - i'm currently using this connection in my bedroom (turned one of my HDTV into a monitor) but my cable comes with built-in 3.5mm audio cable for transmitting audio from laptop to HDTV.  
here's a sample of the cable : sVGA cable with built in audio jack
again word of caution : this set up will only give you a video with either a stereo or mono audio.

unfortunately my HDTV doesn't have a sVGA port. Im not sure if the USB to HDMI will output true 1080p or just upscaled.

Right now Im thinking of just getting a kaiboer media player.

sir, if your laptop has DVi port dapat yun ang gamitin mo not vga,

vga to hdmi to hdtv = poor PQ  not HD
dvi to hdmi to hdtv =  good PQ  HD  (with audio bitstream)

bought my dvi to hdmi adaptor for only P380 at Octagon sa SM

USB 2.0 lacks the bitrate to transfer fluid 1080p video. The device might display 1080p adequately for internet browsing and the like, but you won't get smooth motion at that resolution with this adapter.

vga to hdmi to hdtv = poor PQ  not HD

The RAMDAC's speed is the biggest consideration when it comes to what resolution a PC's DB-15 output can accommodate -- most are fast enough to support HD resolutions.
