I'D VOLUNTEER to answer you Sir. In terms of the sharpest image resolution, I'd recommend you the 2011-released Samsungs namely models no. BD-D6700 and BD-D6500. The older BD-C6900 has a velvety, very cinematically-smooth image AND with the right measure of sharpness (but not as cutting-edge sharp as the latest two models). The C6900's color is gorgeous too, even richer - but not by much - than the highly-praised Sony BDP-570. The 6700 & 6500 have a fixed Color scheme that borders on ebullient yellow - its not skewed technically to yellow but this is likely how a picture appears if a calibrated image is hewed to the ideal 6500K standard. Either way, whatever you choose among the three, you're bound to be gratified. Ayaw ko talagang pumili ng Samsung if I could help it because its Blu Rays are marred by so many units of lemons pero champion talaga yung picture eh, its qualifiably sharp and gorgeous.
Next, I'd recommend the Sony BDP-570 - very good neutral colors, smooth image with the reassuring measure of sharpness. Dahil dated na rin ito, kung may pera ako I'd choose the newer Sony BDP-7800, sabi nila this unit has a "pixel bit mapping" video processing. I'm intrigued by that feature but I'm awaiting more European reviews of it. Home Theater Magazine two months ago choosed the PANASONIC BD-210 as having a reference-quality picture. The 210 shares the same video quality to that of the cheaper T110 - a unit of which is being peddled by Anya here for P7,500.
The bottom, waste-of-money award goes to LG whose Blu Ray units consistently gives a "sabog" or grainy picture with dull colors. Its not just "grainy" - the pictorial texture is like that of a bad LCD TV thats inferior in many ways.

My LG BD550 is a pretty good player that doesn't have sabog, grainy nor dull colors. Do you own all of these units or did you just see them in the appliance store?

Di naman siguro. She was selling an LG BD570 before and she was all praises for that product. LG bluray players are ok. I still have 2 unit BD550 which the last time was being sold at Abensons at P4,995.00 if there are still stocks left. SM Appliances are selling BD560 at P7,500.00. Pero mas mura nga kay Anya618, 110v nga lang dahil US galing.

Yung BD660 is a 3D/2D bluray player na freebie sa previous promo ng LG for their LW5700 series of 3D LED TVs. I don't think its available as a regular appliance. The BD560 is availabe at SM Appliances.

I DON'T know how NDD works through a BD player. I could only comment on the Blu Ray picture, not the audio or the networking capabilities of a player. But I've heard that most of the models now would store Youtube videos (a dream come true feature which enables one to compile for digital archiving favorite videos from the 1980s) and you could store your CDs (virtually eliminating your audio software clutter, of up to 10,000 CDs yata).
My recommendation is based on actual use - I own the LG BD-570, the Sony BD-S570, the Samsungs BD-C6900 and C6500, the Panasonic BD35, plus two more, including the Momitsu 799 which I fixed at Region B. I am ignorant of the models they sell on those mall or chain appliances stores, except Philips BRs whose picture is ho-hum mediocre. The models I owned, excepting the Samsung C6900, is not being availed locally, oftentimes the really good models won't see the light of day in the local stores. Hence, if you wanted the real deals (videophile-grade players) ask or await Anya and he'll bring you the cutting-edge stuff like he did for me.
I saw two LG BRs, apart from my 570 and I'm being objective here when I re-state that LG couldn't make a high-definition picture right. When I say sabog it means a dark scene of both 1080p and 1080i picture has qualifiable picture noise, maraming (infetisimal) na lamok bugging the picture. The color is not as richly nuanced or detailed as all the other brands (excepting my Sherwood BD which is the dullest, bar none). Di lang ako marunong mag-post ng comparative photos dito kaya di ko maipakita sa mga fellows ang observations ko. And when I saw those weak LGs, they're being coupled pa mandin with a Pioneer 508gx 50-inch plasma.....

I have the Samsung BD-5500, freebie when I got my 55D7000. Tanong ko lang how does it compare sa ibang BD players and higher end models.
