hi, actually yung 2-disc director's cut My Sassy Girl copy ko, after keeping it not viewed for siguro not more than a month, nagkaron ng parang mga marks of moist Shocked (not sure if it's caused by moist or whatever, wala namang aircon yung piagtataguan ko non). (hard to discribe it) parang mukang maps yung shape (hehe). pero when i played it, doesn't affect playback naman. still "Sassy" pa rin (ah ok Roll Eyes) hehe. walang scratches yung discs yun nga lang parang naging blurry yung disc. can anyone tell me ano yung cause noon?  ???thanks.  Grin

The same thing happened to my Infernal affairs dvd. I have to guess that you also kept the dvd in a room with an aircon. I made a backup copy of the dvd just in case it goes bad.

just recently had my first experience of dvd rot.
my Bram Stoker's Dracula(superbit) has already that awful misty look that I can't wipe off....
but it still plays well for now.

and my Lawrence of Arabia also shows some minute manifestations.

I noted that both dvd's were manufactured by Columbia pictures.

I wanna know about columbia pictures track record regarding dvd rot?

I'll probably do some random check on my collection this holiday and verify this so-called DVD rot. I know there has been a lot of talk in the past about the Superman DVD susceptible to it, but last week when I checked it, my 2-yr old warner snapper release looked still pristine as ever.

It starts that way...some kind of "mist" that won't go away...

I've lost due to rot:

Jerry Macguire Region 1
LOTR:  Return of the King Extended/Platinum Edition disc 1 (movie)  Region 1
Dr. Zhivago  Region 3
Robotech Macross disc 5 out of 6

 Angry Angry Angry

these ones are starting to rot

- Bridge on the River Kwai
- Open Season
- Kung Fu Hustle

:'( I think it's the clear Scanavo case that is helping the DVD's to rot. Yung mga nakalagay sa Amaray case eh walang problema naman sa rot.

Seems the solution here is to get rid of youd DVD titles as soon as you've finished watching them.  Not much point really collection and letting them rot on shelves.

I have a copy of Chungking Express (R1) which I acquired from one seller here some time ago. It plays fine on my player. The disc itself is pristine and mint. But whenever I play it on other DVD players (like, whenever I got to my friends' house), it skips midway.

I don't know if its dvd rot or whatever. All other players, brand new and old can't play it properly. But when it comes to my old Pioneer, it plays flawlessly  Huh
