Here's an update from firewired about the upcoming " Batang West Side" 2-disc DVD release. Unfortunately, while the commitment to release the DVD is there, you probably won't be seeing it on shelves anytime soon. What's holding back production is the film's still-to-be-determined theater run schedule this year.
Also, there's the issue of where to replicate the first edition DVD set. Doing it locally means a 2-disc DVD5 set which limits the number of additional features due to the film's extended length. It'll be pretty affordable though, even at limited quantities.
The DVD9 option means shipping the master abroad and importing the finished product back into the Philippines. Additional features will be on a second DVD5 disc. Cost will definitely be an issue at limited quantities. Double the price at least.
According to the producers, they hope to iron out everything by the end of the month.

Scheduled from Viva:
12/03/2002: Isang Bala Ka Lang, Part 2 - P450
01/21/2003: Hibla - P450
I was surprised that Gamitan was not on the list. Hopefully that was just an oversight?

Here, Jackie (Heart) is the campus queen, rich and beautiful and is liked by everyone except Che (John), who thinks that Jackie is just a shallow brat. After being forced to work together for school activities, Heart made it a personal goal for Che to like her. Despite herself, she tries everything to please Che until she almost gives up hope. But with the presence of Jackie's Ate Glow, their personal belongings get mixed up. Because of this, both will discover the softer side of each other and their growing affections on the side, the two will eventually fall in love amidst the chaotic events that almost threatened their relationship.
"Two Hearts" is the second episode in My First Romance starring John Lloyd and Bea. John Lloyd plays Enzo, a star soccer player at school who loves the attention that he gets. However, he takes many things for granted but changes when he gets a heart problem and doctors say that a only a transplant can save his life. Enzo gets a heart transplant after finding out that a guy who met an accident is a heart donor. This guy is the ex-boyfriend of Bianca (Bea) who went to the States. Two years after the transplant, Enzo comes back to the Philippines and meets Bianca. She sees that Enzo and her ex-boyfriend are opposites but gives him a chance. After seeing the real Enzo, she appreciates him more and they slowly fall in love with each other but she still couldn't move on from her ex-boyfriend. Until a near death experience for Enzo changes her heart completely.

Release date: January 12, 2004 synopsis: Two security guards, one is the reliever of the other, have become good friends at the factory where they work. Boggs, who works the night shift, always brings breakfast for Tonyo, the day guard. Boggs is married to Andrea who dutifully prepares his packed food and patiently waits for him after the end of his shift. Unknown to Boggs, Andrea is actually having an affair with Tonyo. Because their trysts are always short, haphazard and done right before Boggs departs for the factory, Andrea feels very much disappointed with their sex life. With her escapades with Tonyo, Andrea finds the fulfillment that she is looking for. Boggs soon suspects that his wife is being unfaithful and threatens to kill the lover once he catches them in the act. In his anger, Boggs also beats up Andrea. Seeing Andrea black & blue, Tonyo vows to get even with Boggs. The story's chilling climax has the two men in Andrea's life - Boggs and Tonyo - sharing a meal at the factory. There's great tension in the air and it's just moments away before someone finally pulls the trigger...

Release date: January 5, 2004 synopsis: "Bayarang Puso" is a movie about decadence and materialism set against a backdrop of the most recent leisure class craze, ballroom dancing.
Although the film makes obviously wild pirouettes around this very interesting subject - dance instructors and their willing and able clientele and whatever relationships they have in between - it is in fact an intriguing drama about love, avarice and betrayal.

Release Date: January 19, 2004synopsis: Because of a dysfunctional upbringing, Jake inherits his father's perversion for sex. He grows up to become a pornographer, videotaping his sex encounters and replicating these on VCDs to be sold at "bangketas" and, on the sly, in video rental shops. The women in the videos - Jake's current girlfriend Andrea, Prances who is married to Joseph, and Donna, a beauty queen - get their reputations tainted when the VCDs are exposed. At first, the women lose their self-esteem and suffer depression. Thanks to Marra who is a feminist, they find the strength to come out and file charges against Jake. But not before hurdling insurmountable shame and extremely debilitating prejudice. This story shows the ills effects of pornography and that, indeed, there is life after a scandal.

soon to be released: Maui Taylor & Andrea del Rosario synopsis: The story opens with a couple, Brandon and Shy, negotiating for a lease of an old room owned by Stella. Brix, a travelling salesman and Stella's live-in partner deals with the couple in behalf of the landlady. Little do they know that inside the mysterious house lies a perplexed truth.
One night, Brandon is awakened by muffled sounds of screams and sobs. Recognizing it as Stella's voice, Shy restrains him from going to the master's bedroom to check. As the days go by, more noises emanate the bedroom from inside. After finding Stella emerge with fresh bruises, Brando becomes more curious to know the deeper indignities of the abuse. At one point, Brandon unwittingly becomes witness to Stella's bedroom torments, and a series of puzzling slay and murder takes place.
"Bugbog Sarado" shapes up the frames of sadism and masochism. It intensified the sounds of pain and protest in discovering the real encounters inside the bedroom of abused women.
