Hi rivalz,
This is how my setup looks like. i believe to be the cheapest target for video editing machine.
Processor: 2.8 E prescott HT ready. 1mb cache (go for a 1mb cache, compare to just 512kb cache, price difference of less than P500 only
Motherboard: MSI (intel 865PE chipset), look for a firewire interface (don't forget) . raid support much better for future used. Harddisk: 120 SATA seagate (maxtor i recommend). Planning to buy another 120G. Once maka ipon na ulet. Memory: 512 geil dual DDR kit (2pcs 256mb)
There ya go.
what video card are you using for the setup?

Im using Pixelview but I cant get any audio. Video is no problem, I just connect my Camcorder Svideo out. I was tempted to buy the Snazzi DVD creator yesterday but if I can make the pixelview work then it will save me a lot. I can also change my capture card but almost all are using mini PL for audio. Im looking for a RCA input for audio if possible. I only burn VCD but I want it capable of DVD also. thanks

hi elmers,
huhm? it seems your not on a budget ah? huhm, im not familiar with the model of the ASUS you were saying, Pero empre, ASUS is the best pa din. Mahal nga lang. Don't ge me wrong, But if i were you, i would look for a MSI counterpart, Maganda performance ng MSI, at a cheaper price, which means, you can add some for your memories/other specs. Be wise.
Thanks, Onie

balak kseng mag sideline ng kaibigan ko na magburn ng vcd at dvd. gusto din niyang mag burn ng mga tv programs at iconvert to vcd or dvd. i think u guys can recommend the set-up for him. since bibili pa lang siya ng pc eh eto yung mga sigurado niyang bibilhin para sa set-up, any reccomendations/suggestions are welcome.
processor - pentium 4 3.0e motherboard - asus P5GDC-V Deluxe board - ? memory - 256 or 512? (mas ok ba pag kit?) ddr or ddr2? hard disk - seagate 40gb barracuda 7200 (is this enough or mas malaking capacity? ok lang ba kahit di sata?) soundcard - creative audigy value (i think ok lang to, any recommendations?) speaker - creative inspire 2.1 2500 (i think ok lang din ito, or kelangang 5.1?) dvd writer - lite-on (gus2 niya ung latest model na capable magwrite sa DVD - R9, ok lang ba kahit ung old models muna?) tv tuner - leadtek or pinnacle (yun lang alam ko eh, any suggestions? mas ok ba kung ung mga program eh maconvert kaagad to dvd or mas ok kung icoconvert mo ng ibang software kapag naisave mo sa hard disk?) dvd rom - lite-on or sony?
kung may mga maia-add pa kayong hardware kse may vhs din siya t gus2 din niyang iconvert ung mga vhs niya into vcd and dvd.
softwares>>
any suggestions for dvd making/editing? ripping softwares? (ok ba yung imtoo dvd ripper?) how bout yung software na mababasa ng dvd rom mo yung lahat ng region?
madami pa kse siyang tanong, pero ito na lang muna. salamat sa mga magrereply.

Bro, better if at least: -512 ddr or more, -80 or higher HD, -Ati 9200 series video card, TV Tuner /video capture - Leadtek TV Winfast 2000 expert edition is also good enough. the Ulead Video Studio 8.0 comes with this in addition to the installer of the leadtek. I encountered a video-audio sync problem so i downloaded the manual of the VS 8.0. There it provides that it is best when the video file is allocated at least 30 GB, so i have to repartition my file allocations, and that it is best to erase all other temporary video files in it before burning. i am planning to get a 40 gb hd to be used to store program files so i could use the whole 80 gb to store my video and other files.

processor - pentium 4 3.0e
yup! it's enough na for converting, editing, burning videos. motherboard - asus P5GDC-V Deluxe
I have no feedback with this board! pero, since it's from ASUS siguradong maganda rin ang mga features nyan! memory - 256 or 512? (mas ok ba pag kit?) ddr or ddr2?
much better kung 512 or more. hard disk - seagate 40gb barracuda 7200 (is this enough or mas malaking capacity? ok lang ba kahit di sata?)
aside from your main HDD, if he can afford 80gb or more... with 8mb cache and 7200rpm much better! alternative din yung "External HDD Enclosure" kung gusto niya separate or itago yung mga "Adult Movies" niya! joke only! soundcard - creative audigy value (i think ok lang to, any recommendations?)
Soundcard is decent na bro, unless very fanatic siya sa sound quality! speaker - creative inspire 2.1 2500 (i think ok lang din ito, or kelangang 5.1?)
2.1 is ok since it's a VCD movies and 5.1 setup if he want to try he's custom made burn DVD movies. dvd writer - lite-on (gus2 niya ung latest model na capable magwrite sa DVD - R9, ok lang ba kahit ung old models muna?)
Plextor brand is your best choice for dvd writer! (kaya lang expensive) bro, meron mga decent dvd writer na capable of burning dual layer disc (DVD-9) and dual format(DVD+R/DVD-R) na din na worth from 5-7k lang! tv tuner - leadtek or pinnacle (yun lang alam ko eh, any suggestions? mas ok ba kung ung mga program eh maconvert kaagad to dvd or mas ok kung icoconvert mo ng ibang software kapag naisave mo sa hard disk?) dvd rom - lite-on or sony?
Leadtek and pinnacle is fine! pero if ever may extra budget siya invest on a hardware capture card. kung may mga maia-add pa kayong hardware kse may vhs din siya t gus2 din niyang iconvert ung mga vhs niya into vcd and dvd.
Leadtek and Pinnacle TV Tuner have a built in Video and Audio input sa likod ng card. softwares>>
any suggestions for dvd making/editing? ripping softwares?

Hello tinakloban, I would recommend that you get a SATA harddisk. Mas mabilis sya compare sa IDE. While i was reviewing before i got my setup, i also decided not to get an external hard disk drive, but hey, it depend on you. You wont be needing a high-end video card and sound card. A 32/64mb video card will do. Yung creative na soundcard na two channel ay okay na yun. Open buget ba ito? if not, be wise in purchasing every parts para sulit diba? I will try to post here my recent setup for your preference. Hope it helps, Onie.

TV Tuner card from Leadtek and Pinnacle can also be considered as capture card since they have video/audio input and the ability to record/capture movies from your TV Tuner, VHS, VCD, DVD and Handycam players... what I meant from my previous post is capture card with MPEG hardware encoding. (sorry 4 d confusion bro!) Bro, check this site and some links http://www.aboutvideoediting.comhttp://www.aboutvideoediting.com/hardware/one.shtmlhope dis help!

Hi! What are the minimum requirements for a PC to capture smooth mpg-2 dvd quality videos? My system is as follows: AMD Athlon XP 2000 384MB RAM 80 GB HDD (partitioned) 32MB Geforce MX400 video card <-----(weakest link) Do I need to upgrade this for better video editing? I'm using Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Expert Edition and I'm wondering what upgrades I need for my computer to be able to capture dvd quality videos. Thanks!

About the video card, you dont need to upgrade your video card as it wont provide better performance in video editing. However, if you want to experience HD quality video and games, try upgrading it to better chipset like ATI 1300, X700 or Nvidia 6600 series and above

I've tried capturing videos from my camcorder using Leadtek Winfast 2000 Expert Edition with the bundled software. The video quality is fine for me but the problem is whenever there is fast movement in the videos, there are shadows (the movements aren't fine) and I get dizzy watching the captured video. I noticed this result if I capture in high quality DVD format but in low quality VCD format the movements are smoother with the sacrifice of lower quality videos.
Is this a problem with the fps in my capturing? Do I need a new video card (I only have a 32MB Geforce video card)? Or do I need a better software for capturing the videos?
Thanks in advance!

I'd like to know if an old P4 1.7 PC (with 256mb memory and a GeForceFX 5200 vid card) can accomodate a TV tuner card. I mean, will tv feeds play flawlessly and without jitter (like watching a DVD movie on PC) or do you have to upgrade something to make it like so? Will recording tv feeds on your PC really be a problem with my set-up? I'm really interested in buying a TV tuner ot watch shows on my PC kasi. Thanks.

depends on the tv tuner. if you use a software TV tuner like the winfast tv 2000 expert, malamang di kaya. Look for a hardware based TV tuner like the leadtek pvr2000 or a theatrix theater550. The Theatrix is about 4k.

I also encountered the same problem with this and somehow the PVR and the Ulead video studio had a software conflict so I just removed the PVR program which I really didn't need.

Mga bro, Anyone here uses an old Mediaforte TV Vision PV951 capture card without FM. I lost my installer and tingin ko defunct na yung company and worst is I can't find drivers on the net I need win2k/Xp drivers coz gonna use it again for video conferencing. Learned that video via RCA is way better than USB.

To answer your first question, Tama, Nde nga sya mag aapear sa Ulead program, kasi hindi naman sya recorder type at ang gamit mo is RCA inputs ng Tuner mo diba? Kung gusto mo nun makikita mo sya sa editing software mo, ay kelangan mo ng different hardware like matrox, canopus etc, this may cost from 20T to 250T or even higher. Hope this helps, regards, boss_onie
