Hi guys,

Out of curiosity, how many DVD's do you guys have?  Do you have a limit as to how many to get in a month or in a year?

Check out my collection at:
http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mycollection.asp?alias=viper64

With 136 disks acquired a little more than a year's time and more than half bought from amazon, it think this is one of the most expensive hobbies around. Of course, there are other members of this group who have hundreds of disks already as they have started collecting much earlier.

As far as limiting your acquisitions, it depends on you really. I am 'forced' to buy disks more often because of the absence of any dvd rental shop near my place of residence. Now, if DVD rental shops are very accessible for me, then I will limit my acquisitions to fully loaded disks like criterion collections.

I myself try to limit my purchases to 20-30 a year (para di mabigat) Cheesy .  Sometomes though its just so hard not to buy especially when the summer blockbusters all come out almost at the same time.

Been collecting for just about a year, I've accumulated 20+ and still growing, I may have to give up my other hobbies for this like CD's and Star Wars memorabilla for this.

just bought my DVD Player this January and just started collecting DVDs after renting almost every title in Kridex Video. I currently have 15 with 10 "in-transit" discs from Amazon.

Hi redherring, welcome to PinoyDVD!  Maybe you should also convince your Dad to join up and blow us all away with his collection!  Wink

Just kidding guys! Wink It's just that redherring's post about his DVD-collecting dad makes me feel so... Cry (sniff) so... old! Waaaah! It's just a matter of time before my little toddler starts to chat up a storm on the live-video bulletin boards of tomorrow. But at least we know he'll have cool parents... heheh  Cool

i have a total of 28 dvd titles all are orig. and most are old ones (1997-1998 ) dvd release (i still remember dvds that cost 600 pesos for R1, new titles, but now its gone Sad ), i stoped buying when a video shop opened near my house, but now im starting to buy dvds again, i would predict i would have a total of 50 titles by the end of the year.

here's my list and the dvds i ordered so far...

I started early back when coupons were all over the place so I currently have 350 dvds (95% R1, rest Jap. R2).  Been slowing down and have sold some which I don't plan to rewatch in the next 2 yrs or so.  Sad thing is that there are less than 40 movies that I plan to watch again. Sad

Unfortunately, I am based here in Japan. I'm only in RP during the yuletide season Sad

How much is the going rate for R1 dvds - half MSRP?

I've got over a 150 dvds. If the DVD rot problem is real, about 50 of these dvds will have playback problems in about 4 months. So far 5 of these already have playback problems,
Dual Layer Format Dvds which have either the "WAMO" or "IFPI L###" markings near the disk hub, are prone to DVD rot.

Please check condition of your 4 month old DVD's with these markings so we can verify this issue. Check out link below for more info.

Ako konti lang.  Same reasoning as yours but I have The Rock CC kasi ang isa pang criteria ko for buying ay yuong gusto kong ulit-ulitin.  The Rock is one of them kaya CC na ang binili ko.

Diyahe rin kasi humiram ng ilang ulit ang isang title eh.

I have around 200 titles of Code 1 DVD's, around 300 titles of multi-code DVD's and around 800 titles of VCD's.  I started collecting VCD's in 1997 and I upgraded into DVD's last year.

Reasons : The cost of watching a movie in a theater here in Singapore is like buying a VCD (or a few more bucks to buy a DVD) and because of work, I don't have much time to go out.  I would prefer to watch at home that's why I have collected that much ... It's an expensive hobby but I think it's worth it ...

Anybody interested in buying my VCD collection at P50 each Huh
