Not really. The newer 685 is smaller than the older 602.

Yeah, i guess its somewhere in between since I've read reviews comparing it to the 602, then there are other reviews comparing it to the 601.

The popularity of the old 602 relies on its 7" midrange/midwoofer - the biggest driver in the whole 600series.

Just recently, I got a 602.5s3 - which are actually 601s3 in floorstander form

Decided to call SGT from the contact numbers above (couldn't wait). The 685s is 23.6K and the 686 is 18K+, both discounted already. Very tempting.

@cousin skeeter, i think for the price difference, 685 would be better esp. if you're going to use it as front speakers.  B&W recommends 686 as surround speakers only. Besides, I predict mas mataas resale value ng 685 kaysa 686 in case you get SARS attack someday.  685 can be used as fronts or surrounds while 686 generally as surround speakers only.  Good luck!

You may opt for new HTM62 (equivalent model of LCR6), or new HTM61 (equivalent model of LCR60). The former is for the smaller size room while the latter is for bigger size room. HTM61 is 12 months at P29800. HTM62 is 12 months P19800.

The earlier edition CC6 (a year older than LCR6) is also a good center to match the same tonal-balance B&W 6 series.

This statement (seen on the left of your computer screen) is not an exaggeration.
I have B&W DM604 S3 as my main speakers and Velodyne Acoustics CHT-15 as my subwoofer.
And oh, my amplifier is not an expensive Rotel (as many would expect) but a lowly Onkyo receiver
(TX SR701).  My speaker cables? They're those cheap 'generic' gauge '14' speaker wires.

Discouraged by your B&W 600 series 3 speaker's 'mediocre' performance
compared to 'Paradigm', 'Dynaudio', B&W 800 series speakers, etc.?
It's the set-up and your room, not your ancilliary equipment that makes the
BIG difference!

Ive had the cm series (cm1 & cm7) for quite awhile, all i can say is it sounds divine. Its carries the same driver technology as the 800 series and is very evident in its sound quality and sound stage. they are small speakers though with the cm1 slightly smaller than a wharfdale 9.1.

Did you buy your cm series abroad? Last time I checked, the local dealers I know are not yet carrying them.  A lot of users in AVS Forum find the CM series more musical and detailed compared to the 600 series. But probably because of their size, they find the soundstage of CM7 not as wide and open as 683 [it's not a fair size comparison I know].  I bet CM9 (big bro of CM7) would be so much better than 683 in terms of sound quality and soundstage.  Rumor has it that B&W will be discontinuing their 700 series...
