"was blind, but now I see..."

« on: Oct 22, 2005 at 03:25 PM »

My last transaction on ebay was probably a year ago. Here's my problem In the last few weeks I've been getting emails from ebay (or alleged ebay) that i need to update my account because someone was making fake bids using my account. In one of the emails it said that phoneseller@yahoo.com have been added as one of my email ads for ebay, which it isn't.

There was a link in the emails that I received directing me to a page for me to update my credit card info. The page looks legit and very "ebay" but I noticed that the URL of the page doesnt start with https, instead it's just the regular http. and the lock sign you find at the lower right corner of the browser wasn't there also to signal that it's safe. i really don't know what to do, I'm worried about giving my credit card info but I kept on getting these emails.

What do you think?

it's fraud. don't entertain such emails. you may report it to ebay for investigation.

probably fraud!  you don't need card details unless you're a seller.  they charge a percentage of your items ending price.  if you're just a buyer, you don't need to send your card details.  you'll be transacting to the ebay seller instead of ebay.

nai submit ko pa naman details dati when i received it, kaso wala naman silang makukuha sa card ko kasi laging max out ahaha  Angry Grin pero have to contact my card company, baka pakalusot sila

I just checked the messageboard of ebay, and im postiive that the emails i got were fraudulent. I came as far as signing in with their fake server, but thank god i noticed the https and lock sign before sending my credit card info. i just deleted my cookies and I ran virus scan. and maybe i should just completely terminate using my current ebay account and register for a new account in the future with a new password, email etc. Eyyy!! that was stressful!
