War of the Worlds will be the 2-disc edition but Magnavision will probably release a 1-disc Php495 (or hopefully Php299) budget-priced variant. That seems to be their strategy these days.

wow this is good news, guess i wont have to order online for the two-disc SE... e paramount release to di ba (thorugh magnavision...)? have they ever released a 2 disc dvd set here in the phils? just curious....

I believe they previously released Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in 2-disc versions.

For the record, War of the Worlds is scheduled for a November 15th release, if there are no hitches. Retail price is Php 895. They haven't formally announced a "budget version" yet for this title, but it might have one. Bewitched (2005) will also be released on the same day, also at Php 895 with a Php 475 budget variant.

SRP is Php 895. You can actually pre-order an R1 version at Amazon right now for less than $16, so...

Land of the Dead is scheduled for a November 15th release at Php 895. Budget variant not yet announced.

I have no final date/pricing info for The Longest Yard, sorry.

Actually, the other major reason is competition. Warner, Magna, and Viva tend to keep their street dates confidential from each other. Agawan sa shelf space and launch date.

I think the distributors are starting to understand their market already. Some previous releases were even available in the market already before their R1 counterparts. What I do is base the R3's release with the R1's. Or just keep yourself updated here @ pinoydvd. The members are always eager to help out...sir firewired always keeps us updated.
