Doesn't look like we're going out of town this year so there's time to enjoy the following collections:
  • Black Adder. Rowan Atkinson playing several generations of Edmund Blackadders isn't nearly as funny as his Mr. Bean character, but he's close.
  • Ultraviolet. Mini-series that feels like the X-Files except for the vampire-slaying angle. Been waiting for this one for some time.
  • This Life. TV drama about Brit lawyers. Strong, controversial stuff.
  • Joan of Arc. Specifically, the Hallmark 2-part series starring Leelee Sobieski and Neil Patrick Harris.

I have watched the Messanger: The Story of Joan Of Arc starring Mila Jovovich, ano ang difference ng istorya niyang Hallmark Version? (si Leelee Sobieski ba yung kamukha ni Helen Hunt?)

Same story Rak-Rak but more detailed than Messenger since it's a TV mini-series. The filmmaking is definitely not in the league of Luc Besson, but Sobieski seems like a better Joan of Arc than Jovovich (but that's a personal opinion).

just a funny story to add to this thread...the other day a freind called me up and asked if i had any religious dvds that he can borrow...like jesus christ superstar or the robe?

i was surprised dahil hindi naman siya religious, like he goes to church pag x'mas at easter sunday lang!

so i asked why he wanted to borrow some religious dvd's? dahil ba holy week ngayon?

kasi daw..puros X at XXX ang gumagana sa dvd player niya, and if he played religious dvd's
eh di...mababawasan daw ng kasalanan yung dvd player niya , he said he just want to play the dvd on the player so it can wash out all the sinfull pictures...it doesn't mater if he watches it or not...just as long as it plays on his dvd player Huh

so i told him just go and rent a dvd and i would gladly pay for it..dahil baka ano pa ang dumikit sa mga dvd ko.Roll Eyes

My collection's very new but I think a few of it will suit the Lenten season.  I'll ask my family to join me in watching Ben Hur since only I have seen it yet and maybe The Shawshank Redemption.  I will surely be excited when Easter Sunday comes because by then, I'll be able to select from the rest of my selection w/c I haven't watched yet.  It will either be "ID4" or "Terminator 2" or maybe even "Shrek" to lighten the mood.  What's more, I'm looking forward to finally do my first ever Easter egg hunting in dvds, literally speaking. Yes Roots for me too! I just finished watching the entire Star Trek TNG Season 1 DVD today and will start with ROOTS soon.  From Geordi La Forge to Kunta Kinte, I hope I don't have a LeVar Burton overload!  Smiley

Good call bently! Funny story too. Grin

And like komikero and BoogieNightman, we're finishing off viewing Roots this holy week as well as M*A*S*H Season One.

In addition, we'll try to sneak in The Third Miracle, another good one I've unearthed from my collection starring Ed Harris and Armin Mueller Stahl.

Mabuksan na kaya yung Ten Commandments, Godspell at The Robe ko?

Pero mas gusto ko yung JC-Superstar, kahit VHS lang, panonoorin ko pa rin ulit!

Wow! I thought I was the only one into British series here! I found Ultraviolet very stylish but dragging at some points. I thoroughly enjoyed This Life, and have been waiting for Series 2 on DVD for over a year now! Wala pa rin! Sad

For those who posted early... what did you actually end up watching this Holy Week? That may have funny results.

I said I'd watch Horatio Hornblower, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell and In The Beginning.

I ended up watching: The Evil Dead Trilogy  Grin

I'd say " Deathrow" was part of my holy week...
To give up one's life for another echoes what "Jesus's"
passion was all about... I've cried when many of them
wanted to lay their life for the sake of another...
it was a story beyond life itself... I was deeply touched!
