the R3 release is similar to its R1 counterpart in terms of features. havent seen any pix of actual product but during its pre-sale, it was tagged at $26.00, more or less.

But, how come the set is not listed in the Boomerang.com.th site which is the source of DVDAnswers for this particular Thai release?

I asked the seller about the difference between the 2 releases(R3 and R1), here's the reply:

Same lang. Yung box lang(R3) walang texture.

Edison also has the R1 bought here in Pinoydvd sellers and confirms that the Thai release he is selling is pretty much the same as its R1 counterpart (4 fold-book type).

that's really a big diffrence.  The leather type slip case for R1 is truly a collectors item and looks nice besides all 3 figures which includes in the individual gift sets.  Smiley IMO Smiley

Yeah, but you cannot beat the price of this Thai R3 release.

How much would it cost you if you are to buy all the LOTR Extended Versions in R1? Maybe around Php7000.00 at least?

This Thai R3 is only around Php3000. If you are really not interested in the non-essentials, this Thai R3 is the way to go.

P7000.00 or higher is so much! i was able to get my R1 extended dvds for roughly $70-75 shipped.  and with the ongoing sale left and right, the price may be reduced by at least $10-15 total.

can you point out any non-essential in LOTR EE releases? i really cant cite any at this point. i think what made LOTR EE ranked the highest among all dvd releases of all time is the balance of important and collectors' need-to-know supplements.. including total packaging of course.

the R3 Thai release looks nice... but i have never seen it discussed in international forums. i would recommend this thai release for collectors who have not purchased the R1 release and price is critical a factor for purchase.

but if you ask me, i would go for R1.

i was able to check out (again) the individual Thai R3 LOTR EEs and the boxes are indeed plain smooth cardboard.  some noteworthy differences (from R1) are the packaging material and release being in R3 PAL format, as with all regular Thai releases.  the individual EEs have suggested retail price indicated on the label outside the box (part of label printing), the stores sell lower than SRP.

What about the Trilogy Boxed set that is selling for P1200 lang?  Any feedback on this one?  If you think about it, P1200 diveded by 3, that makes P400 each DVD title.  Not bad already.  P1200 used to be the price of just one DVD when they started selling it.

Are the DVDs included in the pack R1s also?

thanks for the info.  Wink
