Matching Merchandise to Your DVDs

Have you ever considered, or may already be practising making your DVD more collectible by having matching merchandise or items?

This is actually an offshoot of my thread of having the matching Soundtrack.

Notice that some DVDs are packaged with toys like James Bond.  Thus, you can buy those limited edition James Bond Miasto cars to match your DVD - I think Miasto came out with the Lotus Esprit used in the Spy Who Loved Me.

The Gift Set of The Lord of the Rings will have a collectible bookend.  If you happen to have or find a rare LOTR item to match this, eh di mas maganda.

Of course having a more collectible item to match your DVDs would be better.

Last night, I saw those big military personnel collectible toys.  May nilabas na palang Somalia/Mogadishu set with a Delta Force and Rangers figurines.  This would look great with the Black Hawk Down DVD but at a price of around P4,500 eh medyo pag-iisipan mo talaga kung worth it at kung may pangbili ka.

Of course this pratice would be better if you arrange your DVD is such a way that you can place your DVD side by side with the merchandise/item.

Here is another idea for those with Black Hawk Down DVDs.

You can also buy those replicas or models ng Black Hawk.

Thus, this same concept will also apply if you have Top Gun (F-14 Tomcat), Iron Eagle (F-16 Falcon), Executive Decision (Stealth Fighter), Firebirds (AH-64 Apache), etc.

Ang maganda sulit na item would be a replica/model of a Bell Huey Helicopter.  Imagine all the movie titles na pwede iyon, lalo na yuong mga Vietnam War related movies.

ai. i so want, want, want the LOTR gift box set (the argonaut bookends! *droooooooool*) but it's a bit pricey and i don't know how to justify the cost to my dad (who unwittingly pays for my entire DVD collection; kapal ko noh) so i'll settle na lang on the 4-disc EE (which i'll be getting from charbit this wednesday  ) with 30-40 minutes worth of deleted scenes! and may special features pa! (i know that the WS edition also has special features entirely different from the EE; ai! )

i also got my 4 disc from charbit! plus inorder ko din sa kanya ung extra disc so 5 disc na meron ako. but wala nga lang bookends and d other free stuff... but ok na un! at least i have the dvds.

am a big fan of the LOTR Trilogy and have all the platinum extended editions.  I also have the books - the hobbit, FOTR, TT, ROTK, the silmarillion (sadly not the boxset edition).

Bought this hobbit figure 2 years ago coz i wasnt able to buy yet the FOTR gift set and i wanted a figurine/toy of some sort of LOTR.  Now that i finally have the FOTR gift set courtesy of sir baby.....i'm happy as a clam coz what i wanted was the argonauth bookends to place in my bookshelf.   

Initially i wanted to put out the statues but.....sayang yun background artwork sa box, so...... i carefully repackaged the whole darn box after taking out the national geographic dvd, the booklet, and the holographic cards which i gave to my brother.
