Keepcase for me.

Only Warner uses Snap cases and that's because they are part owners in the company that manufactures them.

I like keep cases din. That's because I think it's more durable and so it will be able to protect the disc far longer than a snapper case can. However, I did like how they packaged Citizen Kane, probably the only non snapper case Warner has released so far.

Other companies use the snapper too though. New Line and HBO, which is of course part of Warner pa rin. Image Entertainment uses it as well, as well as the producers of Caligula.

Grin Of course intercourse, KEEP CASE. Pag nasira you can drop by the nearest SM mall and buy one. Pag nasira ang SNAPPER, then that is the end of it. So those na nag-aabang ng Harry Potter, bite your nails off dahil Warner yon so SNAPPER!!!! Angry

But I have a tip for those who wittingly and unwittingly end up with snapper cases. Did you know you can actually wrap the cardboard body with book plastic to protect it from wear and tear and dirt? Snap off the upper and lower lock of the case so that leaves you with the cardboard body. Then wrap the damn thing with plastic and seal the edges with scotch tape except the part where you can find the title index. Be sure it fits snuggly then snip off  that portion of the upper and lower cardboard where the lock's teeth pass through. After that re-lock again and presto, parang laminated na siya. All my snappers are carefully wrapped by me and some ended on members na nakabili ng ibang snappers ko. Try it! Grin

My wife is the one wrapping  my snapper cases. She showed me how to remove the cover. Happy siya when I bought a disc kay Blitz dahil naka wrap na.

Not all WB DVDs are snappers. Citizen Kane, for example, is stored in a keep case Smiley

correction: CK isn't in a keep case pala. It's more like those Special Ed fold out thingees a la Boogie Nights or The Simpsons Wink

Another vote for keep cases!  Smiley

I don't like snappers because they are more prone to getting wet, among other reasons...

I don't like snappers as well...they don't seem to give enough protection for the disc inside. Plus when they're stacked one on top of the other, minsan lumulubog yung ibang covers.

However, most good titles also come in this cases so what can you do.  I don't really feel the need to cover them with plastic but that's a good suggestion Blitz...I might do it if I find the time.

bro Blitz,

thanx for the tip at lahat ng snappers ko ay naka-plastic cover na din at ang ganda tignan kasi parang naka-sealed pa din siya at parang mukhang laging bago. Wink

Shocked

Roll Eyes

Both cases have their advantages and disadvantages, but the trade-offs with the Snap Case make it less appealing.

I prefer the keep case as it gives us a better way of protecting the DVD's, they are also slightly more compact than the snap case.

The Snap Case actually provides a better showcase for the product contents in one page, but then one never really minds the extra sheet of production notes inside a keep case.

I never tried covering any of my snaps with plastic, but if PinoyDVD comes out with an official Member's plastic snap case cover, then maybe...

Question to those who have covered their snaps in plastic. Doesn't the humidity get in between the cover and plastic and making the plastic stuck on the cover? Just curious.

Down with Snappers! Angry

There was an online petition launched against snap cases, but of course it didn't do any good. Or maybe it did, because New Line switched over from snappers to keepers for their Infinifilm series.

One question for those in the printing business -- aren't covers & inserts for keepcases cheaper to print than snapper cardboard casings? Or do you think the costs just come out the same?

can u ever compare it... definitely keep cases...

*off-topic*
one thing that first held me back in starting a dvd collection is that ang liit kasi ng case(well, dvd lang naman laman eh)..compared to those large packages for laserdiscs

i find it more amusing to browse thru your film collection if naka-stack sa isang box yun mga laserdiscs, then flip them na parang records ...

oh i miss laserdiscs..baket kasi ang mahal eh!

It's hard to file them, and most of all the covers are prone to tearing.  I agree with Anali "Down with the Snappers!" Cool

espace,

about your question regarding the plastic cover on snap casing.

Smiley

maganda pag may cover ng plastic ung snap case at mas presentable tignan. Wink
ang maganda sa keep case ay may nabibiling pamalit while snappers ay wala pa yata so far.

All my snap cases have been converted to keep cases. Just remove the cover and have it xeroxed (colored) at 97% of the original. Cut the back portion a little more since a snap case is not even. buy replacement cases at Astro then you're ready to go.
There are also some websites that make alternative covers of snap cases that you can print out on your pc.
