SOUL PATROL!

Basically, this was a humongous flop so Warner and Dreamworks might have scrimped on the DVD release.  What a shame, since I found this to be one of the better Michael Bay movies.   Sad

it's very curious how producers decided on what to inlcude in this release if it did 'FLOP'.  i know other producers would try to improve the DVD contents and releases to make up for the lost sales in the box office.   Roll Eyes

anyway, i wouldn't think twice about getting this 1-disc DVD release if it had at least a great packaging.  these are the kind of movies that would be excellent for giving your HT a real work out with its explosive action sequence.  Wink

I agree.  I seem to recall several movies that didn't too well at the box office but was given grand treatment upon release in the DVD format.

Let me remember and I will post it here.

it seems there isn't enough bonus material for "The Island" to warrant a two disc edition.

I find this to be VERY hard to believe. It might be plausible for a smaller film but this definitely does not apply to a modern big budget flick like this one. It's well known that this movie underperformed in the theaters which is precisely why this will be an intentional "double-dip" by the studio. Get as many sales from the single disc then sell the two-discer (possibly a "director's cut") at a later date to screw over the hardcore fans.

Perhaps I wasn't too clear on what I said before. What I meant to say is that, based on my internet research on the different DVD versions for "The Island" (R1, R2, R3, etc.), all of them do not have extensive features in them. So if Warner were to release a special edition DVD for this to include all the features from all the different regions, it seems there isn't enough to fill two discs. This doesn't necessarily mean that they lack the material. Warner must have opted not to release them yet. Maybe in the future, yes, in DVD or in another format. But as I said, based on available material from all versions, a two-disc DVD is unlikely.

By the way, I watched this release yesterday. The PQ & AQ are indeed good. Especially the AQ. And that's just in DD. Imagine if they pumped it up to DTS pa!

As mentioned by few members that PQ is good (that's good news indeed!) may I know what TV did u use (LCD, DLP, plasma, etc)? I'm keen to know esp those of u tried it on a HDTV with 42" & above display.

Thinking of getting this one too  Smiley

it seems that your into PQ and SQ.  Well all of us do.  It's just the gears you use to tell the difference.  But when HD DVD or Blu ray arrrives.  All would be standard 1080p.  But will there be higher than 1080p.  Lets say 2160p?  It will give you vertigo. Smiley

Back to the topic.  Haven't watched this yet.  But from the trailer.  I'm expecting it to give you Ht a workout.  I also like movies with lots of effects.  It gives you adrenalin rush. Smiley

this budget version of The Island is what other distributors should be following. kahit wala masyadong special features, the PQ, AQ, even the packaging looks great.  Wink
