And once again, making its 14th appearance in this thread: My first DVD was The Matrix.

Is there anyone here who doesn't have (or never had) a copy of The Matrix on DVD??

Since you asked, I DON'T have a copy of The Matrix.

It got so "used up" , it played on HBO for weeks, been used too much as a "demo disc" at audio/video stores, etc..

I lost interest. But if somebody gives it for free, I'll take it  Grin  But spend for it? NO.

Newbie alert!! Cheesy

I'm glad I found the Philippine chapter of DVDaholics Anonymous, muchas gracias to the moderators!

Back on topic, the first DVD I got was a Christmas present even before I got my player: Blade Runner DC.

The Matrix, however, was one of the first DVDs I actually got myself.

Grin Grin If DVDGurl was the 14th person to post that bought Matrix as her 1st dvd...well I'll be the 15th then...

After buying my player...I immediately got The Matrix DVD and watched it immediately.  Me and my wife were at awe when we heard and saw what kind of pictures and sound a dvd produces.  You see...it was our first time to actually watch a dvd.  It was very exciting!!!  Grin Grin  In our family...I was the second one to get a dvd player besides my bro who's in the STates.

Ill be watching out for the Matrix sequels!! Grin Grin Grin Cool Cool

My first DVD is Blade. Its the only available disc when I bought my DVD. I recently sold it because my wife doesnt want any horror DVD because she is pregnant. Sayang super linaw pa naman and once ko lang napanood.

Mystery Men.

I chanced upon its review on Jessica Zafra's book and was intrigued by it. I got it the morning after I bought my dvd player.

Thanks for the info. I wonder how Chinese-Filipinos feel about being referred to by such a term.

Hi xlr8,

Isn't Jessica the best? I must admit that most of the movies I collect were based on her reviews. She makes fun reviews. Not snobbish nor tight-assed.

The first DVD I bought, technically, was Jawbreakers. I got it "free" with the Philips DVD player. Not very Zafra-esque huh? Tried to get rid of this disc but I couldn't, for sentimental reasons.

I think the term's acceptable, at least that's what I gather from the website at http://www.tsinoy.com. But it's great, gonz, that everyone's being careful about matters like these, that could end up getting personal, or misunderstood, or that are just sensitive in nature. Thanks for your vigilance! The first DVD I ever bought was the Mummy (R3) in Greenhills.

Even though I want to get rid of it, I can't for sentimental reasons.  Wink

Same here. I bought The Matrix R3 then I sold it to buy the R1 then I found out it has the same features. But since then I'm only buying R1 DVD's only.

Naalala ko tuloy yung 1st Audio CD na nabili ko, which was Pearl Jam's "Vs."...  same case... bought the thing even before I got to buy a CD player...   Smiley  actually, by the time I got to buy the CD player, "Vitalogy" (the follow up album to "Vs.") was just out that week...   hehehe... sorry na-off topic na ha?  just got caught reminiscing on the old days...  Smiley

just like King 5504, I bought my first dvd (matrix)before I bought the player. I was confident that sooner or later I would get a dvd (whether through my own means or as a gift from my folks), and sure enough, here I am happy and broke because of dvds Grin
