For Ortigas addresses, you will have to get your packages at the Pasig Post office near the Capitol dun sa may bayan.  Kinda inconvenient.  Pero madalas nakakalusot sa tax.  But this was like in 2004 when i had my last package delivered to my office address in Ortigas.

question... is this Pasig Post Office the same with the Ortigas Center Post Office which is near the Ortigas Park and Podium?  Roll Eyes

Read my post about the MCPO. Yes, you will be taxed.

I have always had a bad experience with the Mandaluyong Post Office. First of all, the customs guy there comes and goes... sometimes, he takes a lunch break and never returns.

And when he is there, he really overprices!

So this week, I ordered a book from Amazon for $32. I said I'll just spend extra and use DHL so I won't be harassed by that customs officer.... so I paid $39 for shipping.

To my surprise, my book arrived today, and DHL was charging me P1,800 for customs handling!!!!!!! It's highway robbery!!! Since they know we can't say no since I've already paid for the book and shipping.

The other week, I ordered an evaluation software from Microsoft.... they wanted me to pay P1,600 for customs handling even if the shipment is valued for $1.  So I just told them to keep the evaluation software.

Hay naku!!! I can't believe this!!!!  I know customs is trying to meet a collection target but this is outrageous.

So my advice.... STAY AWAY FROM ONLINE ORDERING.....

I guess the horrors from the post office varies.  Here in Angeles City, fortunately, di maselan at matakaw yung mga tga post office and customs.  If i have bulk item for pick-up...i just shell out the standard fee of just P35, no questions asked. .... Grin

i didn't see this question answered, might as well answer this. no, the pasig central post office is different from the ortigas post office.

when i was still working at an office in ortigas center, i had to pick up my packages from amazon.com or ebay at the pasig central post office. medyo malayo, pero i didn't have to pay customs charges. in fact, i don't even remember paying the standard fees (20 pesos?). but that was back in 2003.

Just for info, way back in 2003-2004 I used to order from Amazon and had it delivered straight to my office in Makati. I stopped doing it since Makati Central Post Office always charged me a hefty amount of not less than 1,000 pesos even if my order consists only of 1 DVD w/ single disc inside (God! I hate them...)

I'm now working here in Ortigas Center, a few blocks away from the Ortigas Center Post Office. I try ordering from Amazon again, this time for V for Vendetta 2-Disc Ed and using my office as my delivery address. Actually, I'm getting myself ready to pay for any customs duty charges, but to my surprise, the package was delivered to me last Friday, straight to my office and without paying anything...  Grin Grin Grin

Any new online shopping+PO stories?

I finally decided to try shopping online and, for a 'first test,' kept my order to one 2-CD album last Aug 23.  I used my Makati office address as the delivery address.  Then I read the MCPO horror stories here and 'prepared' myself for the possibility of paying hefty taxes or not receiving my order at all. So I was very pleased when I received my CD yesterday (after around 10 business days, not bad, I think)...The merchant specified the cost on the envelope.  The plastic seal wrap on the CD was gone (though I'm not sure if it was taken off for inspection, and where it was taken off, as the envelope was sealed with glue when I got it).

Was I merely lucky? Was it because it was a single item? My order cost around $23, plus $7 for shipping, though only the $23 was indicated on the envelope by the merchant.

That's also one of the reason why I stopped on having my orders delivered to my office in Makati back then. It seemed someone already opened the package also, which do not happens when I had it delivered to my other address.

Royal mail small packets are small pouches for small items such as 1 to 2 BDs or 1 boxset.  Usually it is delivered straight to your address if not too bulky.  It usually takes 1 - 2 weeks if from UK.  Usually dito sa Davao, wala tax ang RM small packets.  You just pay 40.00 PO fee.

thanks po sa reply. sana nga dumating na. at sana diretso na rito sa bahay namin. 2 cds lang naman po kasi from uk, roughly 18 pounds kasama na shipping fee (that's around $28).

^ It's actually nice to use Royal Mail kasi may delivery confirmation yung packages. If it's really taking a long time, basta may tracking ka from Royal Mail, mahahanap naman ng post office natin. Smiley Usually though, no door to door delivery, only a PO pickup ng Tues, Thurs or Friday ata.

meron actually door to door ang Royal Mail at no extra charge except for the $40.00 storage fee yata.. This is true for small parcels though like those that contain 1 or 2 DVDs or 1 or 2 boxsets..
