Hmmm...I'm just wondering why Viva released this as a single disc? I guess it's better to buy the R1 release which has a DTS soundtrack at that.

Need your opinion on this guys.

Thanks

Hi aesha.

I just need to clarify: VIVA has nothing to do wth the decision to release the Philippine R3 version of Toy Story: 10th Anniversary Edition as a single disc. Sadly, that's a corporate decision of Disney itself. Disappointing, yes... I also felt cheated when I purchased the Special Edition of Sleeping Beauty (at full Php 900 price!), then opened it up at home to find just one disc and a ton of missing special features. But it's really beyond VIVA's control.

Personally, I'd go for the R1 version of Toy Story, since for me, the main appeal of buying original DVDs is complete special features. I hope you can find a copy at a good price.

Yeah, it's really quite disappointing guys...that's why everytime I buy any disney r3 titles, i always check if it's in a single or 2 disc release, sometimes nakaka-fake din especially if the casing is quite heavy, akala mo 2 disc pero one disc lang pala...i guess i really need to settle for r1 release, in other words "SULIT" to talaga.

I have nothing against Viva but thanks for the very informative advise Mr. Hankey.  Smiley

This was especially true for Cinderella, since usually, R3 Disney single-disc titles retail at Php 750 when first released, with the two-disc titles priced at Php 900. I really felt cheated.

Got Cinderella SE & was also disappointed to find out it was only 1 disc.  Sad Good thing I bought it during the Podium sale & did not buy it at regular price.

when I saw this title sa Podium during the sale, I immediately inquired kung kasama sya sa P299 sale.  Unfortunately di daw kasi new release pa lang.  Did not go for it at the price of P750.  Will just wait for it to be included in the next sale for P299.

Buti pa dati yung mga release ng Disney na two disc that are priced at P299 during the sale.  Undecided

Medyo out of the topic tong comment ko.  Bakit hindi na lang gawin same number of disc and features (including the audio setup, particularly dolby ex, dts or thx) ang lahat ng region?  Kahit talo-talo na sa language at subtitles okay lang.  Mas affordable na, napapatronize pa natin ang R3.

Exactly munky, how can they let us patronize R3 release kung di nila gagayahin na lang yung same number of disc and features ng R1 release?, I could say na "tinitipid yata or nagtitipid" ba mga distributors here in our country?

For example, with Toy Story, yung R3 release hindi na nila dapat i-market as 10th anniversary edition kung binawasan or kulang din ang features and number of discs tapos ang price is 750 or 900 ba? Ok lang sana if they sell it na lang for 299, I will bite that.

I don't know but this is just an opinion.

Toy Story 2: Special Edition was also released locally today, and as far as I could tell from the sealed package, single-disc din yata siya.  Undecided

Like I said, it's completely beyond Viva's control - it's a corporate decision of Disney itself. But it's still really annoying. I think the best way to let Disney know that we're disappointed (irritated?) with their incomplete R3 releases is to send them correspondence directly.

I find regular mail is taken more seriously these days than email, so you can send complaints to:

Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Attn. Consumer Relations
800 Winneconne Ave
Neenah, WI 54956
U.S.A.

However, if you'd still rather go the email route, you can use this form: http://studio.go.com/cgi-bin/gmail/generic_mail.cgi?template=video/dvd_feedback/feedback.tpl

Yeah, why call it 10th anniversary ed, when it is (very) similar to regular non-10th anniversary releases.  They should have made it in 2-discs form and charge a little premium for it (950 perhaps), and sell a single disc version at a more reasonable price (495 perhaps?).

Nowadays, Viva now price most of its videos at 750, which I feel is too much for old releases (Just married, etc.).  Which is why I don't buy any even those Disney animation classics.  I feel it's too much for older titles.  OT na ako.   just my 2 cents...
