Guy and gals is it possible to connect dvd player directly to a computer monitor?  If so.  Can it be done by using component cable to vga to one end?  Forgive me for my ignorance.  I'm not a techy guy.  TIA

Yup, direct VGA connection, and set to progscan, however, you'll have to connect your audio out to an amplifier. Tongue

Your player should have a VGA port wherein you could connect your computer monitor directly to it.  Smiley

Try some PC shops in Gilmore, however, if it's not available anymore, you can always request them to make one for you, I think I saw a VGA male port being sold, you can supply them with your component cables, there are some cheap ones being sold at the DIY hardware.
BTW ATI(check out the number at the Infocus Thread) is selling component to VGA cables.

may mga generic na dvd players na may vga port na pwede iconnect diretso sa pc monitor, kung walang vga port yung dvd player kailangan mo ng vga box katulad nito http://www.kworld.com.tw/en/product/analog/004/lcd_tv_box.htm

I think your PC monitor already has the VGA cable which is the standard connection to a PC  Just connect it to a DVD player with VGA port.

My players are Pioneer.  I need vga in one end and component in one end. Smiley

I see.  I can't recall seeing seeing a cable of this termination locally.  Perhaps if you do some google search, there may be some online you can order.

Xtreme DVD players, now Divx capable costs only 1.7 to 2.1K at Raon Shopping Mall, Quiapo, in a sense....cheaper than the RGB component RCA to VGA being sold by ATI, since you will have a DVD/Divx capable DVD player, some also have old nintendo games, do check out the thread at the Generic DVD players forum.
