Cheers from a movie and music lover

So is my money....

Have been waiting for this so i jumped to get one when i saw it released on a snappy by warner.  I was a little diisappointed it was on Full screen.  If i recall right, the laser disc version was on widescreen.  Or am i just confusing this with another title.  Talaga bang Full screen lang ang GWTW?

yup. it's really in the standard format (4:3). being that this was released in 1939, this was the prevailent theatrical ratio during that time.  Smiley

it's not uncommon for films released during this time period (1930's  and older) to have this 1.37:1 ratio. films like citizen kane, on the waterfront and wizard of oz were all filmed and viewed in this ratio.  Tongue

the widescreen format was released in 1953. Fox came up with cinemascope to bring to the screen "The Robe".

Ok so that gives me some peac e f mind.  Thanks guys.  It's just that in some shots parang na-cropped yung left and right extremes.  But other than that, the DVD's colors are glorious for a 1939 film.

I just saw the 4-Disc Edition of Gone With The Wind in stores today:

It retails for Php 1700.

Comparing the sealed package with my R1, I noticed the following:

1. The listed features seem the same. I'm not sure if the actual disc contents will also be the same.

2. Unlike the R1, the "Gone With the Wind" emblems on the front and spine of the cardboard slipcase are NOT embossed.

3. It contains 2 (apparently double-disc) Amaray-type cases, unlike the fold-out cardboard packaging of the R1.

I'm not sure if it contains the reproduction of the 1939 souvenir booklet that the R1 has. If someone buys the R3, maybe they can shed further light on this matter. Thanks!

It's $28 at Amazon.  Including shipping, it probably will cost about the same as the R3.  How much is the R1 being sold here?  I really prefer a slipcase packaging to an amaray.

Ditto with the slipcase rather than amaray especially when it's boxed. Already obtained the R1 locally, and the price is a bit higher thatn 1700, but it's just fine with me...

Saw this also at Astro Glorietta.  The packaging is not pretty.  Another title worth having in R1.  Smiley

I clarified with Warner last Friday and they said that Gone with the Wind is a full import release so this is the same R3 box that's being sold in most parts of Asia (not sure about Korea).

Just curious., what's so special about Korea that they have a different packaging for the same R3 release?  Often better?  Di-ba magaya ng local warner?

Had the same idea about buying the R3 Gone with the Wind but bought the R1 instead. I'll post pics of the R1 later.
