Saw the film on theatres back in 1984 where the air is full of political angst after the assasination of Ninoy Aquino. You can actually ride on the bicycle inside the theatre because only few people were watching it. Maybe moviegoers were still afraid to take a stand by watching the movie.

Mike de Leon masterfully create the tension between the laborers, the nun played by Vilma Santos who finally take a stand against the owner of the factory after the union leader, Tony Santos Sr. was killed. I still love the split-shots used by Mike de Leon in this film. Still a classic that will stand the test of time.

The year after KAPIT SA PATALIM: BAYAN KO came out and it was also a flop at the tills.

This was released in the Philippines today under the "Regal Platinum Series."

Php 465. Quite pricey, considering that it's almost as barebones as Viva's Php 199 "Award-Winning Homegrown Movies" selection.

The trailers are for new films, not for Sister Stella L. No documentaries, and despite the jacket stating that each film (in the Regal Platinum Series) has been "digitally restored, re-mastered, and subtitled"... there are NO subtitles available.
