I just wanted to know if "Daimos" & "Voltes V" (the Japanese cartoons shown during the 80s) are available on DVD or VCD.

Yup, it's available in Astrovision.
They currently have the complete set in one big CD case. I think the price is PhP1,990.
I, too, am looking forward to a DVD release of Voltes V. Sana may Japanese audio para maiba naman pagka-panood ko. Pero I really liked the English dubbed series. Grin

Hi dude!!

So far there's nothing on both titles. The only 70's-80's super robots that have been released on legit DVDs are Go Nagai's "Rocket Punch" robots - namley Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger and UFO Robo Grendizer.

There's a Japanese (R2) boxset of the movies. It's known as the Mazinger Movie Collection. I saw it being sold in Greenhills for P3000. It's a 3 disc set.

Aside from that.. there's been nothing.. unless you're gonna be counting the "other" sources... Wink

Kung official release ay no plans pa kaya inisip kong gumawa ng kopya for personal collections.  Di ko pa tapos gawin eh .... kailangan ko pang makakuha nung ibang episodes in original VHS.

I tried converting from VCD but there are pixelations. Mas maganda talaga kung galing VHS.

I saw several LaserDiscs of Voltes V in a DVD shop in Causeway bay before. I just wasn't able to ask if these were the complete set though..

Most probably it is in its original Japanese language with chines subtitles.

For me, I would still prefer the local dub inspite of its crudeness (especially in the earlier episodes).

I cannot imagine why there's no dvd release on Voltes V when there are dvds available for Mazinger Z and Grendizer. And to think of it, there is a vcd box set available. Maybe in the near future, baka hindi lang available dito sa 'Pinas. Maybe in Japan available na.  Smiley

I'm afraid wala pa rin... but I think Shaider has already been released in Japan as an R2 DVD set.

I think Voltes V and Daimos aren't that popular in Japan as compared  to Mazinger Z kaya walang DVD pang ginagawa.

Hmm... with original monoaural Japanese audio channel, no English-dubbing audio channel, and no subtitles at all - neither Japanese nor English.

Well... it's good news for Japanese fans of the show, at least.  Grin

If I were the local licencee of Toei, I'd release the new DVD collection here in the Philippines but insert the local english dub and  local tagalog dub as alternate tracks. They can also pick up the LD fansubs that have been floating around online for some time.

Sir Firewired, I sure wish you are.  And I'm sure many will patronize it.
Here's still hoping for a brighter future for Voltes V DVD release.

The VCDs were released by Magnavision, so I really can't imagine them going through the effort.  Sad

I-subcontract mo na lang sa kanila, firewired. I'm sure it'll be a very lucrative top-seller!  Grin

I actually asked them 3 years ago Grin Nothing happened unfortunately since Magna doesn't actually own the rights to the Super Robot shows. Apparently it's still held by the guys who brought them to the Philippines in the seventies.

Let's find out who they are, so you can subcontract it from them!  Grin

Can you imagine the pride of having original Voltes V DVDs with the PinoyDVD logo on the jacket and discs as the manufacturer?  Cool

And with the English track, it'll be an international seller, at that.

I used to work for the company who owns Voltes V, Daimos, Combattler and most anime shows shown before the Asianovela boom in local tv. The company is called Telesuccess. They were also responsible for the early english dub and the "movie" entitled Voltes V: Liberation. And yes, VV isn't really popular in Japan or US, dito lang sa Pinas.

Still my favorite, never did watch the whole series.  I saw the 1st episode at youtube & never saw the ending episode, how i wish these were available in DVD.  Undecided

I remember seeing the movie version (when i was a kid) in a theater in Naga City while vacationing
