« on: Sep 16, 2006 at 07:26 AM »

any news whatsoever as to when will this great movie will be released on dvd?

this movie has been raking awards and will be rp's bet for this years oscar race and will probably bring home

the bacon................

it slipped out of my radar screen when it was shown daw in local theaters because i usually dont want local movies kasi puro panggagaya ng plot lang naman ang ginagawa ng mga pinoy but ive read from several sources that this movie is great kaya im looking for this one...........

saw this one in sm............good enough but it will have a hard time bagging the oscar for best foreign film. no uniqueness in it,nor great cinematography and its not an epic...they love epics in the oscars, aside from the fact there are too many other great countries, also producing great movies for the oscars

To film gurus, how does this film compare with the Thai film "Beautiful Boxer?"  Haven't seen either but I might get the DVD of both.  TIA

widescreen letterbox also ... shame. wala pa ba tayong local facilities that can master them into widescreen anamorphic?

@av_phile1

not sure if it's fair to compare the two ... beautiful boxer is an "inspirational true to life story" while maximo is a "plot-driven comedy/drama". i guess you can't go wrong with either, but maximo is a lot lighter than beautiful boxer.

^ yup lightweight nga ang maximo...didn't really affect me...it is dual layered but it has no special features or even subtitles.

unitel should have worked a bit more on this DVD release. pinoy/blonde has a more beefed up release.

Agree.  It seems to be one of the most expensive DVD of a local title at P450.

... and it's still P450 up to now... anyway, matagal na palang na-release ito...

i doubt the price will ever go down. Only Viva, makes their DVDs affordable. Unitel and Star Cinema same price ever since.
