Now that's something to look forward to  Dapat may preorder fanfare katulad ng Da Vinci Code, and I am sure mas maraming bibili nito kaysa Da Vinci Code, considering the subject matter.  Tin box din sana... wow, wow. wow!

They should have not included Supe 3 and 4.  I can't help feeling  the garbage spoiled an otherwise excellent timeless collection.   Grin

You're right. If the sales estimates at BoxOfficeMojo.com are correct, the Philippines is one of the biggest markets for Superman Returns. It made almost $4.2 M here. The Da Vinci Code I think only managed to earn $1.8 M.  For comparison, the Harry Potter movies typically earn $2-3 M here. Also, according to the SM IMAX manager, the Philippine IMAX theater had the biggest per theater average for Superman Returns IMAX. Proof that Superman is BIG in the Philippines and thus deserves an elaborate DVD release here!

What discourages me from availing any R3 boxed sets released by Warner locally is their packaging style, enclosing multiple amaray cases into one box as compared with R1's digipaks (e.g. Smallville series, Matrix Trilogy). If this will also be released in a tin casing, that would be great coz I'm still imagining on how would they fit multiple amaray cases into that tin packaging (given the artworks we're seeing now with other regions).

4 discs ang Superman The Movie?!?  Shocked

Sort of. Here's the actual breakdown of the four discs:

· Commentary by producer Pierre Spengler and executive producer Ilya Salkind
· Theatrical trailers
· TV spot
· Languages: English & Français
· Subtitles: English, Français & Español (feature film only)

Disc Two

· 2000 expanded edition movie with commentary by director Richard Donner and creative consultant Tom Mankiewicz
· Music-only audio track
· Subtitles: English, Français, Español & Português (feature film only)

Disc Three

· Three documentaries:
o Taking Flight: The Development of Superman
o Making Superman: Filming the Legend
o The Magic Behind the Cape

· Restored scenes
· Screen tests
· Audio-only bonus: additional music cues

Disc Four

· Vintage TV special The Making of Superman: The Movie
· 1951 Movie Superman and the Mole-Men, starring George Reeves
· Nine Fleischer Studios Superman cartoons mastered from superior vault elements:
o Oscar-nominee Superman
o The Mechanical Monsters
o Billion Dollar Limited
o The Arctic Giant
o The Bulleteers
o The Magnetic Telescope
o Electric Earthquake
o Volcano
o Terror on the Midway

If ever, by the time, the new Trilogy is complete, DVD would probably be supercede by either HD_DVD or Blu-Ray.  And with Superman Returns less than expected Box Office returns, Warner might not be as eager to green light any sequel...

Depende naman.  Some like the first wave of Band of Brothers comes in tin packaging.  The new Rome - The Complete First Season also comes in Wooden package like R1.   Hopefully, R3 will rival R1 on this set.

The devil's in the price...  R1 (preorder is now discounted to around $70.  So R3 would have to top that.

I'll start a new thread for the Superman Ultimate Collection since that warrants discussion in itself. Looks like it'll mirror the R1 right down to the tin case -- BUT it looks like Bryan Singer's Video Journal is out of the R3 release so we're down to 13 discs. SRP is Php3,750 (vs. US$99 for the R1). Our local pre-order price is Php3,250 which is also lower than Amazon's US$70.

Oh, crap. That's a deal breaker for me, a missing disc. Luckily I have a relative arriving from the States in December, so I can get the R1 set from Amazon shipped to her using FREE Super Saver Shipping, and not worry about taxes nor missing supplementary material.

Hopefully the pre-order price will still go down between now and November 28th.  Cool

R3 for me.  The price is reasonable.   With Amazon's $70, hindi pa included shipping plus duties which given the weight of the package and the price (not to mention, Christmas is near) will surely attract the local custom attendant (kupit-llector).

The missing disc is not a deal breaker for me, as I want the movies more than the documentaries.    Basta complete ang the other items - Comics etc. Okay na.

6 movies, two-documentaries, extra animated episodes.  And Warner's excellent track record when it comes to packaging means no second thought about preordering (unlike Da Vinci Code LE).

In the US, there's a mail-in coupon for posters.  If only Warner Philippines does the same....  Oh well, asking for the moon na siguro... Smiley

Thanks, Sir Firewired for the insider information...

Oh darn it...Yup me too!  The missing disc will make me have second thoughts on purchasing the R3.  i will always think na parang kulang.

Di naman pwede mag double dip at each set is already quite expensive.

Then it's a definite R1 for me then. Any reason why they did not include that last disc?

With Warner, dropped features usually point to licensing difficulties. Maybe Bryan Singer wanted additional royalties for his video journal.

Street date for this is on the 12th of November and pre-booking at PinoyDVD.biz starts sometime this week.  Like firewired said earlier, you can purchase the collection at P3,250 if you pre-book, generating savings of P500 from the regular price of P3,750.  Since it's above P3,000, free shipping already applies.

I was told by Warner that they will also sell the individual fims separately (except for the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2).  But if you're intention is to collect the entire series, you'd be better off buying the collection rather each film separately since it's the cheaper alternative and you also get the Tin Box and collectible items.

So, it's confirmed that the Superman 2 Donner Cut will not come out as an individual release?  Sayang naman -- 'yung pa naman ang hinihintay ko.  Oh, well, may R1 naman.  Mas mahal nga lang.    :'(

Maybe it's the catch for them not selling the Donner Cut individually, so as for customers to avail of the tin set even if it lacks the 14th disc...  Roll Eyes
