Instead of posting in the most recently viewed DVD thread, Ill be starting this thread........

Seabiscuit (HD DVD)

Aside from being one of the most inspiring movies Ive ever seen, its also one of the most natural looking films ive seen so far on the format.  Near flawless as far as visuals is concerned.  The soundtrack is also top-notch with the .1 having a workout on the horseracing sequences.  This is a must have for the highdef collection.   Smiley

sir, si alvinthx2 meron na rin........way back pa....

para di OT..

Doom (HD DVD)

A very dark film in the tradition of Alien-style films....but not quite up to par with Alien of course.  Some film grain did quite exist in few scenes, but overall showed good flesh tone, especially with the very lovely Rosamund Pike.  Got dizzy with the Doom-style first person camera angles in the end, courtesy of Karl Urban.... Batman Begins

I totally agree with the review below....the top reference title for HD DVD so far...with Dolby TrueHD....(tried it using generic RCA cables for analog 5.1 connectivity)......the Dolby TrueHD soundtrack is totally awesome!!!!  Grin Grin

Here's the link for the highdefdigest review:

Batman Begins HD DVD review (click)

and the reviewer's final thoughts:

 Final Thoughts

'Batman Begins' is a no-brainer. Even if you are only casually interested in the film, you should definitely check this one out to see the HD DVD format at the top of its game. Terrific transfer, awesome Dolby TrueHD soundtrack and tons of extras -- including some genuine HD bonus content -- make this one the A-list HD DVD release to beat. Now is a very good time to be an early adopter!

Apollo 13 (HD DVD)

There's really something about films about going "home" that surely makes a great story.  Couple that with a terrific transfer and DD+ soundtrack (especially the launch sequence)....a sure pleasure to watch... Grin Grin

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (HD DVD)

A visual feast.  Though the skin tones obviously look artificial, thats what burton intended to show.  Its just unfortunate,  Warner made a Dolby TrueHD music only soundtrack.... but still the DD+ soundtrack doesnt let down.

sa thread na to yes, hehehe, but its ok, pero sa panonood, enjoy na enjoy. the early adoption is well worth it...yung Batman Begins, three times kona napanood, the other two with a different set of visitors...kaya palaging tipsy...serving SML...hehehe.   Grin Grin  Actually me release every week, pili na lang maigi.  Iwas blind buy na rin, thanks to reviews from highdefdigest.

Sleepy Hollow (HD DVD)

One of Paramount's initial releases in high definition.  Its preview footage of Paramounts HD line-up is impressive.  The movie meanwhile, truly represents Tim Burton's visual style.   A very grainy film, but that doesnt speak less of the visual quality.  It is rather intended to be film-like.....and HD delivers the goods in picture detail and texture.  Again, a very good Tim Burton-Johnny Depp combo!!  Grin Grin

Regarding sound formats,s o far meron na Dolby Digital Plus....and Lossless sound formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD master audio.  Blu-ray mostly releases titles in uncompressed PCM 5.1.

Constantine (HD DVD)

This is by far the most awesome soundtrack Ive heard over at HD DVD.  The combination of a very aggressive soundtrack and Dolby TrueHD is a big winner.    The LFEs performed oh so well, all tight with no distortion whatsoever.  On the PQ side, though I noticed noise in one dark scene, nevertheless, the whole film showed the three dimensionality that HD provides.  Defintely a reference quality title for HD DVD, also a must buy for those considering making the jump.  Grin Grin

M:i:III (HD DVD)

Some scenes are all too familiar....(double-crossing and the too obvious Abrams favorite, being tied up and tortured in a chair, then escaping) its like watching an episode of Alias.  Though this one veered slightly from IMF-style action and spy stuff, I truly enjoyed the action scenes, especially the bombing in the viaduct.  PQ-wise, its truly flawless, from the natural colors, up to the texture and detail, it was all dead on spot.  It helps that it was shot in HD.  A first rate demo material for HD DVD, with the 3D effect in full force.....including the moon craters in Laurence Fishburne's face.... Mission: Impossible (HD DVD)

Watching it for the third time definitely made me understand the plot better.  First time I watched this, I was scratching my head wondering and trying to distinguish between the good guys from the bad guys.  Watching it this time though is a charm.  Noticed some dirt (this is a 1996 film) in some scenes, but nevertheless didnt take away from the overall HD experience, especially the CIA entrusion scene... M:i-2 (HD DVD)

Visually better than its predecessor...and the john woo style really did show with the aggressive soundtrack, especially the dance scene in seville (solid thumps on the dance stomps), the car chase between Naya and Ethan (dynamic rears), and the motorbike duel in the end.  Aurally is a great demo material for all those scenes.   Smiley  Funny though, in the trilogy, its like seeing a totally different ethan hunt in each movie... Eagles:  Farewell Tour Live in Melbourne (HD DVD)

My first concert title in HD, this one delivers all the goods and truly rocks.  From the song New Kid in Town to the last song Desperado....I may not have experience hearing them in their prime, but definitely, watching them makes me go "high"...especially after singing along with Hotel California  Grin Grin Grin...The HD version makes them look dapper....albeit making them look older.....

Here's mine;

Sahara - Awesome PQ and SQ! This is one of the best demo HD DVDs to show to your friends.

Riddick - Another great HD DVD to show to ur friends! Superb PQ and SQ!

Batman Begins - Excellent PQ and SQ. Another must have if you're starting you're HD DVD collection. Tons of extras and special features included.

Superman Returns - PQ wasn't up to par with Sahara and Riddick. But the Sound Quality in Dolby TrueHD is very good.  HD DVD version comes in DVD combo. Also, the HD DVD version has the 3hr extras, documentaries and making of featurette.

Oh yeah, that's my Wii on the pix. An early X'mas present from my wife..  Grin

Cheers!

Out of Sight (HD DVD)

A very good catalog title in HD DVD.  Colors are vibrant....but as Highdef's Peter Bracke would comment, they didnt overdo it......this is one where the significant PQ upgrade over the SD copy really impress.   Grin Grin

Superman Returns (HD DVD)

The PQ was a little soft to my liking...but nevertheless presents a very clean grain-free video.   Dolby TrueHD delivers again...especially in the airplane sequence.  A real HT treat... Grin Grin
