Cheers from a movie and music lover

Can't seem to find an R3 title for this, though there's one in the R1 section.   If this has been raised, kindly merge my post with it.

This is one rare plunge into a new release, going against a promise to myself to ALWAYS wait for  a SALE.  I am sure this will go the way of P299 eventually, but I just couldn't resist the title.  P895 for a single disc with less than interesting features is just highway robbery for me, but what the heck. I just have to watch it.   Grin

And indeed, watching it for the first time last night simply had me floored.  Neither Superman Returns nor Casino Royale can compare to the involvement and edge of seat suspense.  I got this DVD with high expectations, what with those rave reviews and all;  and it actually exceeded them.  What  can I say to add to those reviews?   Convincingly horrific,  engaging confusion, impeccable dramatic timings, a tragic peaen to human courage facing an inevitable end, sustained build-up to its climactic end, etc., might be a good start.  But I'll leave it at that.   Grin

Oh, and forget about that other overhyped 911 film.  There's simply no comparison.

Interesting.  Seems no one has bought the R3 release.  Still too pricey, I guess.

It's a great film, but personally, I wish I'd waited for the sale.

Unless you want to pay 895 to get depressed, that is. I found it very difficult to watch the disc - the way it was filmed was very tight and realistic, plus there was the weight of knowing the characters you're watching and rooting for will all be dead by the end of the film.

And they're not fictional, either.  Embarrassed

But it's an excellent film. Probably my favorite for 2006.

watched this one at the theater.....really gripping and tension filled. You will really feel for the characters, especially since they had cast unknown actors/actresses.  was crying towards the end of the film nga eh  :'( :'( :'(

personally, i will wait for this title to go on sale, coz like Sir Hankey said, unless you wanted to get depressed, then dont wait for the sale and get it now Smiley

I don't know if depression is the right word, or if that was what I got in the end.  Maybe to some extent it is, but I got the feeling more of human triumph over evil, so that some relief is there in that evil didn't win for that particular flight because the sublime human spirit to defeat evil, even if it meant oblivion, is there.

You know very well how it will end, but for some reason the film was able to give you the edge of seat excitement, convincingly building up the suspense, from the confusion in the contorl towers and the slow but sure realization of the horror of what was going on, and the intial shock in the cabin, down to the utter certainty of their fate,  suspending your disbelief quite effectively and while you rooted it would end differently, there was unmistakable sense of triumph of good over evil.    I heard it earned some OScar nominations, but I have no confirmation of that.

I have no doubt it will end up in the 299 bin this summer,  but like I said above, I too haven't seen this movie and with the rave reviews I read about it, this was a must have for me and totally let go of any restraint when I first saw the title at Astro.  And I have to say this must be the best P895 film I can remember.   Grin

This is a Magna release, right? Don't they go down to as low as 333 only?

Don't know if its magna as I didn't take note.  299 or 333, I won't quibble;  Still a huge mark-down.  Grin
