Any idea when will this be released here?

I'm a big fan of Michael Mann...can't wait to own this but I believe the R1 is already out.

But the cheaper one is DVD5 dba?  R1 for me as the R3 is just the theatrical cut.

This won't go 299.  It's a Magna release.  Most likely 333 but only during sales.

OK....let me save you the money and your time.  Bought  a few movies to watch over the X-mass holidays. I am a fan of the original TV series and eagerly awaited the viewing. Figured the combo of Collin Farrel and Jamie Fox was a winning combination. Come day after X-mas had the wifes family  over.  About 7 of us watched. It  is IMHO undoubtedly the biggest flop I have seen in 2006.  My wife thought it was a sleeper of a movie and so did my wifes family.  At the 1/2 way mark we could hear snoring and it was not from the movie! With about 15 minutes left I was praying for the end to come as it was pure torture. To put it mildly I would rather watch corn grow!

I REPEAT...SAVE YOUR MONEY. [Portion deleted by moderator.]

Well this was a Michael Mann film.  not everybody loves him.  It's really a love him or hate him thing when it comes to movies.

Think Collateral (Tom Cruise/Jamie Foxx) and Heat (Robert DeNiro/Al Pacino).  If you find those long, dragging & boring, then you might not really like Miami Vice.  It's not your typical summer action "eye candy".

I hear ya dude and your point is taken on board but I really liked Collateral damage (actually watched it a few times) and the same with Heat. The acting in both of those films were superb! The slow pace was progressive and reached highs time and time again. Those movies were like roller coasters. Lots to enjoy!  The problem with Miami Vice is that the plot takes ages to develope and rather than building up the plot to a creshendo  it kind of lays down like a dead dog...never to roll over.  Miami Vice was not only boring but also very predictable.

IMHO and it is only my opinion it will be on HBO very very very very soon.  Smiley

Sorry for my poor grammar.

Please people.....tell me your opinion if you seen the movie.

How many R3 versions are there in the Philippines?  I saw the 1-disc version at Astro, I thought I saw a 2-disc special edition of this one a while ago?

I share the same opinion. I borrowed a copy and watched it and midway, I felt glad that I just borrowed it and not bought a copy.  There were some thrilling moments like the finale gun fight and that sexy car love scene ( Gong Li and Colin ) but not enough to merit a purchase for me.  By the way, I own both of Mann's Collateral and Heat and I'm proud to own them.  I just felt that Mann fell short on Miami Vice.  Well, it happens.  Like when Coppola, after directing film great Godfather, faltered heavily on Jack!

i got no problem with the film when i saw it.  granted it was kinda draggy at parts but the shoot em up ending more than made up for it in my opinion.  besides, as already said, it's a michael mann flick and that has been basically his style ever since and i seem to recall that the original miami vice series echoed the same talky moments and slam bang ending shoot outs.  i guess you'd really be disapointed if you went in expecting a lethal weapon type actioner.  but then again, to each his own.

everybody has there own opinion on this one...I personally liked it. But my dad who's a big fan of the show, didn't. maybe because he was expecting to see the two leads sporting those white jackets. Grin agree that there is a lot of talk in the movie...but I still think its a good take on an action movie...dark and gritty.
