I just received confirmation from Viva that they will be releasing Beauty and the Beast in early October. Like Monsters, Inc., this will be a deluxe 2-disc set that will retail for P750.

No word yet regarding specific features, but they've agreed to send us more information in the next few days.

wow!  if they load it up like they did with Monsters Inc., this will be a good buy at P750 (well, I still have qualms about their discs not having inserts and having clear cases).

hmmm...  maybe Viva is worth giving another try...  maybe...  Smiley

My source told me that it will be priced at P900 and the vcd at P375.  Lilo and Stitch will be out on December.  No idea about the price yet...

I visited Astrovision yesterday. They had a poster for Beauty and the Beast with an October 8 release date. McDonalds has the Beauty and the Beast Happy Meals already in time for the video release.

Guys, as far as Viva is concerned, it's P750. If the retailers start selling it for P900, then you have cause to complain. It was the Marketing Manager for Disney and Buena Vista who confirmed the lower price, influenced in part by the success of Monster's Inc. last month. The P900 figure (US$18 at 1:50) is the MSRP for Asia (Region 3).

Astro HQ contacted me today and clarified that Beauty and the Beast will definitely retail for P750 when it launches next week. They've informed all of their branches about the correct price to prevent confusion.

Was in Astro ATC yesterday and apparently they haven't gotten word as to the price reduction of the disc....they showed me the official flyer from viva...which showed the price of the DVD for P900 mega bucks.

I hope ASTRO would be able to inform all of his shops before this one comes out.  From what they told me Oct 10 daw ang labas...pero from what firewired posted there will be a slight delay and will be scheduled on the 18th.

Anyone knows the difference between the R1 and R3 release?  Which is worth buying?

Reserved myself the R3 Spiderman since there is not much a difference in content but opted to get the R1 version of Monsters, Inc. due to the widesreen vs. fullscreen issue.  I prefer the former.

Update: Viva decided late today to release Beauty and the Beast on Wednesday, October 9. I guess the production delays weren't that bad after all! Wink

Just a clarification:

Beauty and the Beast R3 is not a Platinum Edition, but a Special Limited Edition.

Just thought that the distinction might matter.  Saw the case today at Astroplus.

techno321,

Astroplus has only one branch (so far) and it is located at the Podium.

I wasn't able to examine closely the case since it was stuck to the display so i don't know what the special features and format of the disc is.

anyway, malapit na lumabas so we'll know what it's all about soon...

No "Platinum Edition" on the case, that's for sure.

By the way, check out the McDonald's stores.  They've been aggressively promoting the Beauty and the Beast video.  They have premium items realted to Beauty and the Beast.  The poster says Special Limited Edition.

Okay, let me clear that up today. From all the conversations I've had with VIVA, it was always referred to as the Platinum Edition. And they did say that all 3 versions of the film were included. I've changed the title of the thread to reflect Kahon's observation.

Are the Disc 2 features complete?
