Very easy choice for me. There will be HUNDREDS of steelbooks; there will be only ONE Transformer movie that comes in a transforming case.

Well, until the sequel comes out on DVD, at least. Grin

The transforming package and the steelbook are both good buys. Plus, I collect Optimus Prime figures so I guess I'll buy the one with the transforming package since Optimus Prime is on the cover. Cool

The picture of the robot is identical to the one at ezydvd.com.au, but the sleeve is different.

I'm also a little worried about the final quality of this one, not specifically because it's from Magnavision, but because it's a Paramount title. Magna has already improved its more recent Sony/Columbia R3 blockbuster releases. But its Paramount releases have almost always looked pretty bad, packaging-wise. Their Indiana Jones boxed set looked cheap, their Godfather Trilogy digipak set easily came unglued (and was subsequently replaced by low quality keepcase/slipcase), they were the first to come out with sleeves that looked pirated (check out stocks of Footlose, Flashdance and Grease). I suppose the only good boxed set they've released locally would be their Shogun set, and their Sex and The City Season Six set didn't look bad - just bulky.

My deal breaker for the transforming pack would be if it is cardboard. It seems highly unlikely based on the pictures, but then again, you never really know for sure until you see the final product.

Good points commented by Mr. Hankey. Smiley

Guess we'll have to wait till the release & hopefully will receive positive feedback. If the transforming pack is deemed "acceptable quality" I might consider getting a set for its "unique" transforming packaging.  Smiley

Not to worry Rico, you can still get the R3 edition which is cheaper. It appears to be similar to the R4  Wink

I wouldn't say that.  Until Magnavision reveals the pricing.

My guesses.  Since there are four variants:

1-Disc: 695 (Imported disc)
2-Disc: 895
Steelbook: 1300 at the very least
Transforming: 2300  or more.

That's my SPECULATION, based on their previous pricing of the Da Vinci Code set.   I think this set is even more desirable than Da Vinci Code, whereas Da Vinci Code is a middling movie with an anti-Church message in a Catholic country, The Tranformers is almost universally liked.  This could easily be the best selling DVD of the year.

Magnavision is known to extract the maximum amount of profit where possible.  And unfortunately, if we like to own one, we are at their mercy given copyright laws and  customs regulations.  The Australian version is something like Peso 2000 WITHOUT shipping and handling.

That said, all editions looks collectible. Of the four, I dislike the two-disc Amaray the most.  If I won the lottery tomorrow, I will buy the other three... Grin

The Transforming robot is plastic, I believe, based on the pictures in the Cybertron forum with the big maroon round plastic holding the discs.

Despite the fact that I have graduated from collecting giftsets (space hogs) and multiple versions.  I will probably get at least two of those versions, hopefully the giftset and steelbook will not be too limited.

oh man...does this mean I don't have to buy an R1 anymore? Good things to those who thought of releasing these editions locally. Grin double dip ba ako for the steelbook and transforming case? The transforming case doesn't look like it's made of cardboard, but until I'm holding both editions in my hands, am gonna hold out. Grin time to save up...too bad this will come before my birthday. Birthday gift ko nga sa sarili ko pero dagdag gastos sa dami ng papakainin ko. Grin pwes mag-pandesal na lang sila ;Dhahahaha

Read this too at the Cybertron board. The Moderator posted they do not have final pricing yet but word is it will not go over 2K. Hope Magnavision confirms this pricing soon. Smiley

BTW, they also posted Cybertron members will have a discount if pre-ordering from them. Sana PinoyDVD meron din promo...hehe Grin

if the price is right...i'll double dip right out of the gate for the steelbook & transforming package.  though i have a feeling, a third dip is forthcoming with the director's cut.

From the look of the material in the picture, medyo mataba yung transforming prime. I think it's one of those caboodle type toys. Hopefully ganun nga at hindi mukhang cardboard cutout.
