The venturer is up for order na ata at target. 250 bucks ata price niya. I thought would be 199. I have to still confirm, parang read it somewhere its 250 bucks.
To me those toshibas would be better.

Ya think peso will be stronger pa versus dollar going up to december (with all ofw money coming in for Christmas season) unless there is some bad news in the Phils (Like Neri doing a Chavit on Arroyo haha..)

i'm also trying to save for a hd player, kaya lang pre hindi ko tuloy alam kung unahin ko muna maging patriotic (magdasal na mag chavit nga si neri pero tataas ang dollar) or maging videoholic (magdasal na huwag na lang para makabili ako ng tosh!!!)

hd-a2 is now US$229.98, with free dvds.

a seller in the AVS forum is selling the A3 for US$249, also with freebies (for AVS members).

Nine Free HD DVDs With Toshiba HD DVD Player at Best Buy

Upping the ante for high-disc bundles, Best Buy is offering a total of nine free HD DVD discs with purchase of Toshiba's new $399 HD-A30 player.

The new deal was first unveiled in Best Buy's weekly newspaper insert this past Sunday. It builds on the retailer's existing bundle deal, which provides a total of seven free HD DVDs with purchase of any 2nd-Gen Toshiba HD DVD Player.

Hmmmm...

BUTI NA LANG MAY UUWING KAMAG-ANAK (FROM FLORIDA) SA KATAPUSAN!!! (Sorry ha, talagang napasigaw ako, just got their confirmation, flight itenerary)

Me thinks -

AMAZON's current price is $338.
- cheaper by $61 compared against BEST BUY
- free shipping
- 2 titles free
- 5 titles free, mail-in. Not sure if my sis-in-law can still get them before leaving Fla.
- have to make the purchase ASAP, but it seems its price fluctuates everyday (timing Smiley)

BEST BUY is at $399.
- more expensive than AMAZON (by $61).
- sis-in-law takes care of the purchase, then i'll just pay later Smiley
- 2 titles free
- 5 titles free, mail-in. Not sure if my sis-in-law can still get them before leaving Fla.
- plus 2 more titles free

AMAZON has the edge...

If you're in my place, what option will  you take?

Cheers!!!

For me, I'll go for the Amazon option. You can use the saved $61 to buy other accessories such as HDMI cable or you can use it to buy 3 more HD DVDs!! Cheesy

The mail rebate will take forever....hope they have improved by now.  Undecided

I would also go for amazon. 61 dollars is equivalent to 3 pcs of 19.95 hddvd discs. 2 extra disc by best buy dont justify the 61 bucks diff. IMO..But if you have other relatives coming home by Christmas, I would wait till their Christmas promo, I have a feeling there will be better deals after thanksgiving. I may be wrong but couple months away nalang, Trend of prices will go down naman not going up. So to me baka will have better deals for Christmas. hehe...Problem here there might be customs people at the airport that will have Christmas fever and most may be hungry to tax hehe..

Good Morning guys!

Am waiting for confirmation from my sis-in-law if she can still accommodate my request. I'll probably make the purchase next week. She'll be here by Oct 31, the night before a very long weekend, sweet!!!

I agree that price/s might still drop but no more relative/s coming in by December, so for me, now is the time. Otherwise, I would have to go through JAC route and December might not be a good time to shop online  Grin. Baka January na dumating  Wink

Cheers!!!

And in This Corner, a Third-Generation HD DVD Player

In the battle to determine which high-definition DVD format will become the next standard, Toshiba is hoping the third time’s a charm.

The company’s $399 third-generation HD DVD player, the HD-A30, is the latest blow in the consumer electronics fisticuffs between supporters of HD DVD and the Sony-backed Blu-ray format. The Toshiba player, which has full 1080p picture resolution, can connect to the Internet via an Ethernet port to download goodies like movie-related offers. It now supports 24p, which allows you to watch movies at an aesthetically pleasing 24 frames per second.

I don't think so. The price fluctuation may be due to "overstocking" of the product. They will have to discount it in order for the product to "move".  Grin
