This will be a nice treat for all Star Trek fans. It's not just a cleaner picture but also include special digital effects. Very impressive!  Smiley

Though I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but with the impressive remastering and enhancement plus other exciting stuff in this HD DVD set, I might seriously consider it.  Grin

However, I'm sure this "polished" version may upset some Trekkie purists as they usually against all kinds of changes done to original/older materials. They might say why do we need new effects after all it's a 60's series!  Grin

Is is gonna be an original and remastered release or remastered only?  It would be nice if they include both.

Video: First Look at 'Star Trek' HD DVD Interactive Features

Paramount has posted a new promotional video for its upcoming first season HD DVD release of 'Star Trek: The Original Series,' providing a first glimpse at the box set's highly anticipated bonus features.

Hyped as the "Star Trek at your fingertips" in the lengthy eight minute clip, the bonus features on the HD DVD edition of 'Star Trek: The Original Series' certainly promise to be the most extensive seen yet on a Paramount next-gen title, and may well raise the bar for what we've seen so far on a TV-on-hi-def release.

Highlighted specifically in the clip are first looks at the HD DVD exclusive "Star Fleet Academy" interactive picture-in-picture feature, which allows viewers to enhance the viewing experience with new interviews with cast, crew and historians, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage and deleted scenes.

Also touted are the new CGI visual effects and score enhancements created especially for this retooled version of 'The Original Series."

Tosh HD-DVD remote goes intergalactic

STAR TREK FANS with HD players are in for a geek treat this Christmas as Toshiba has revealed the details of its remote control shaped like a phaser gun.

The remote will be available free to buyers of the HD-DVD release of the first Star Trek series, starring William 'the wig' Shatner, which is pretty neat considering it will sell standalone for $70.

However, Star Trek fans without HD capability may be slightly cheesed off - the original series isn't being release on standard DVD, only on an HD-DVD / DVD 'combo' disc - with all the best extras being on the HD side of the disc.

It seems that the HD-DVD camp is hoping that the sheer enthusiasm of Trekkies alone will see it through as the leader in HD formats this Chrimbo. Will Toshiba's sales boldy go where no HD format has gone before?

I think if one chooses super saver shipping, they are last priority hehe Grin,  From the pics it looks pretty good, Im not a trekkie (More into starwars Grin) but this remaster really made me curious and interested in Star trek. Ive seen some star trek movies and watched some shows when I was a kid. So watching this again will make me feel like a kid again hehe.., just like land of the giants series, threes company, happy days, etc etc.. hehe..

Glad to hear you like the set & cool packaging. Smiley The television series were produced in the 1960s where season one started in 1966.  Grin

Yup, HD DVD transfer retains the show's original 4:3 aspect ratio (thus you can see the pillarbox bars at the sides).

Yes, there should be five "Data Cards" that list the episode and bonus feature contents of each disc.

It's reported that the packaging is flimsy and easily damaged. How do you find it?
Hope you can post some photos Moks007.  Cheesy
