I think pre-booking is ongoing as I have seen the mini-standee (as also posted in this thread) in Astro stores. I'm not sure though what additional incentives they are giving for the pre-booking, aside from you getting the supposedly "limited" steelbook.
Personally I'm holding off until I see the release or read some reviews here, as I noticed the mini-standee only lists a commentary as the Special Feature & nothing else. The R1 has a 78 mins making-of documentary + other featurettes, which I want to see. If these are all carried over to the R3 steelbook, then this R3 will be a very good release indeed.

I checked with Magnavision, they're still waiting for the shipment. I told my friend to update me though as soon as the items arrive.
For Transformers, I think they had to persuade the principal office to provide additional copies of the steel case and the toy, they got several feedbacks and request from customers when it ran out. Intially, as per Magna, Paramount allocated several units per region lang.
Anyway, I can't wait to get a copy of the American Gangster steel case.

I wonder if this would have the same glossy, fingerprint-loving surface as the Transformers steel case or if it would have a rough texture like the 300 and The Departed steel cases.
