Many of the rental shops around my area are also closed. Many consumers rather buy P****DVD than rent. Embarrassed

I used to. Had a rental shop near my place. They even had deliver service within the neighborhood.

But, with the proliferation of p****ed DVDs, they had to close shop.  Angry

I used to rent movies before...I think the last time I rented was in 2001. Then I began collecting...I have not rented ever since. Grin

It used to be that rental shops could survive by renting out TV series, foreign films and cult titles that the pirates did not carry. nowadays, the selection that the pirates are much wider than any rental shop could have carried.

my family used to rent VHS tapes, when i was younger.

now that i'm a grown-up movie enthusiast, i have never rented dvds from any of the shops here in manila. i watch the movies i like in the theaters, buy them when released on dvd. i watch the movies i missed by buying from you-know-who sellers, then buy the original dvds if i like them.

i'm visiting my sis here in sydney and they live in a suburb away from the city. they don't like collecting dvds but love watching movies. so they rent from a community dvd shop. parang nakaka-inggit because its fairly up to date on the latest dvd releases, it has old movies, foreign movies. tapos you feel better about renting than buying you-know-what.

very nice of them to follow up.  makes u feel valued and kind of interested in obliging to see if they have new titles in good condition now.

i do, sa video city, although meron pa akong 6 pcs dvd's now na naka plastic pa bought at odessy in megamall pero naghire pa rin ako yesterday, mga overnight ang hina-hire ko at hindi 2days, kasi yung 2 days minsan hindi na maganda pag nagplay, yung overnight halos wala pang gasgas ang disc.
