DIY change in PS3 Hard Drive--- Advisable or not???

I came across an article in a gadgets magazine where it was featured that you can, thru DIY, change a PS3's hard drive, i.e., to increase its capacity, e.g., from 80gb to 160gb, or higher.  What they used was a 160 GB 2.5" hard drive, 5400 rpm (SATA).  A 7200 rpm hard drive was mentioned as to be also ok

The procedure for changing the PS3's hard drive seems easy enough. DIY ika nga.

Considering the sharp drop in the prices of PC hard drives these days, what do you guys think? Is it advisable?

Laptop type yung HD, sir. yung 2.5". Kunukulit ko pa "source" ko ng hard drive e. ayaw pang pa-discount sa 250gb e.  hehehehe. kukulitin ko pa bibigay na cguro sya.

Yup, may back up function PS3, sir. [Settings > system settings > Backup utility menu]

the official ps3 manual has instructions on how to replace the hard drive. its a very simple procedure.

yup meron USB so pwede rin external hard drive or a memory card reader, and as i said meron backup utility ang PS3

Hi Doc. Yup, may 2 USB slots sa (lower) front ng PS3. Musta na 705? hehehehe. Tried the True HD experience yet with your new set up?

AFAIK, hindi pwede because of the DRM. you'll have to re-download all the games you've bought. i've emailed sony about it before. they keep track of all the games you've bought from them in your PSN account. so you can download all the games you've purchased without paying for it again. hassle nga lang ulit i-download at install.  but it's still better than nothing!

Clarif lang...

1. Run the back up utility ng PS3 -- this saves the info in the PS3 but outside the HDD
2. Replace the stock HDD
3. Install the new HDD
4. Run back up utility (parang restore na siya)

Yup yup. pero yung games mismo d na-se-save. yung saved data lang ng game ang na-se-save.
