My 4 year old Yamaha DVD player was acting up for the past several months (skippy scenes, no disc palagi)
So I decided to buy the PHILIPS DVD Lens Cleaner(No solution) for php265 from Astrovision.

When I arrived home and inserted the Lens Cleaner, I just simply followed the instructions.
I had no expectations whatsoever.
Boy, was I surprised that it miraculously made my player read all my DVD's flawessly again.

I'm happy with the PHILIPS DVD Lens Cleaner.

It's not as pricey as the radioshack cleaner and it at least is a good brand, unlike all those cheap DVD Lens Cleaners you can buy anywhere.

They should be available in most Astros.

I'm sure results will vary depending on the player.  Wink

I bought one from astro din but a different brand, comes with the disc that has a brush on the underside part and cleaning solution.optional yung solution since the disc itself works the same

what happened was when i bought the 2 disc Transformers (w/toy) simula palang nag sskip and jagged parts which the movie is unviewable pero ibang disc ko maayos naman (p*rated).sabi sa astro is because of those pirated disc kaya dumudumi or nahihirapan yung lens...used the lens cleaner and then worked like a charm.never bought pirated discs again

i might give this a try since its not that expensive naman pala.  Wink  might work for my dvd player, nakakainis na kasi when you want to watch a movie, it wont play right away... it would always say "no disc".  Sad  thanks so much sir!  Wink

I just bought one from Astro SM North (the Astro in the main building, not the parking annex and The Block).

Initially try to look for a progressive scan TV in your home and connect via YUV,and your problem is solved, if not, follow th esimple steps:
1) Press progscan button wait for a few seconds it should come back.
2) If the picture becomes black and white and unruly, then the multi system format has been set, try to look for a PAL/NTSC button in your remote, and that should do the trick, the setting should be NTSC...now if you have a multisystem(Which is what TVs are mostly nowadays) TV, then just hook it & your problem's solved.
3) If everything else fail...hook via yellow RCA, this is now your basic analog connector, then go to setup function, look for TV system, then choose NTSC, then look for Porgscan function, then choose off or interlace, your problem should be solved by then.

Next time, try to give us the model # of your DVD player as well as the TV your player had been hooked up with, the above instructions are more or less universal for most DVD players, and Philips usually follows the general format, unlike Pioneer whihc have a different set of buttons to push.

Hope you can watch again after this. Wink

Enjoy Smiley

I also need to get me one of this. I watched several DVDs over the weekend and there were instances when the player will pause for a few seconds. Happened on a couple of discs which plays perfectly on another dvd player.
