Doesn't seem that much of an improvement.  In one shot (of El Padrino - The Godfather), the colors of the cars look white on the remastered one and amber on the other, that look fine.  But on the others, the reverse is true.  And details are just marginally more detailed.  Not worth to double dip, but then again if they released that with same packaging (steelbook) here (R3) with free hat, bowtie, (and gun?) at a reasonable price (ala Indy Jones Trilogy R3), then I will eat crow and pick it up without second thought...

This is a sure buy for me, as the original DVD is riddled with dust, specks and scratches.

Note that is so far R2 PAL.  So there will be some speed up when played on NTSC equipment.  Lalabas din siguro sa R1 or R3.

Hopefully, Magnavision will do an 'American Gangster', I mean R2 Steelbook case but with Remastered R3 discs.

To my eyes these comparison shots doesn't seem to do justice to the restoration works thats been done.
I'll have to see the film in motion  Undecided

What I found interesting about this was it made me realize that while HERE, we have to pay premium prices to get steelbook releases of DVDs, in the UK, the steelbook exclusive has the same price as the standard release.  Shocked

To those who got their new godfather dvd, is there really a substantial improvement w/ regards to pq? From the screencaps on the net it doesn't look that great. Although that steelbook is indeed tempting.

If you have a credit card, why not di ba  Wink  It's always cheaper to order directly but of course, you'll take care of the taxes (if any), defects, lost orders, etc...

For my case, I was only charged less than 2k including shipping. Kaso delayed ngayon and Amazon told me to wait until June 24  :'(
