Parts 1 & 2 of this topic (including the "Varied Titles I'd like to see on DVD" thread) merged for convenience and easier access.  Please note however that the postings are yet to be sorted in chronological order.  --kgwd.

Yep, we've closed the first thread because it's gotten to long. We can continue talking about this popular topic here.

So what do you guys think? In an ideal world, this would be a perfect time for a Best of Nida Blanca DVD Box Set. Oh well...Smiley

That would be a great tribute Komikero. It should include gem movies such as Korea, Galawgaw, Waray-Waray, Saan Darating Ang Umaga, Miguelito: Ang Batang Rebelde and a couple of Nida-Nestor musicals and John and Marsha comedies.

Actually, FPJ can have the most complete set of movies. I remember from an old interview or article that he actually preserves reels of his movies.

Think of it, we may be able to see the Totoy Bato in DVD sometime in the future.  Grin

I thought I read "Sibak" not "Sabik".  Just a switch of two vowels there and the title gives a whole  new movie (of the same genre) with a completely different set of target audience Grin

For a while there, I thought somebody was 'coming out' via the forum.  Just kidding, ekime. Grin

I read about it somewhere and even saw it at TLA Video rentals. I'm not sure if it was directed by Mel Chionglo but if I remember it right, it's about three brothers who all became dancers/prostitutes. At TLA, it's called Midnight Dancers.

Grin I agree with Komiks, dapat me NIDA BLANCA Box Set, pero dapat yung nanalo sya ng mga awards like: MIGUELITO, MAGDUSA KA, SAAN DARATING ANG UMAGA and SANA PAG-IBIG NA. Catched Sana Pag-Ibig Na in Cinema One and she was absolutely SUPERB, GREAT and INCOMPARABLE!!!!

But sa mga new movies, I want to have a DVD copy of the only Filipino movie that made me sob habang tumatawa, BOOBA!!!! Grin Grin Si Rufa Mae Quinto lang yata ang nakagawa nun. A real talent!!

Just finished watching Shake, Rattle & Roll (1), Kakabakaba ka ba? ...

Coming up next : Ina Ka Ng Anak Mo.

Kailangan makakita ng way para ma-transfer ko sila kahit sa VCD.

Meron barrid. Unfortunately, they only have the new ones that I despise ...  usually Judy Ann, Claudine, or bold movies by Osang ot whoever is the latest sensation like Troy Montero ... who doesn't know how to act. Those movies were either directed by former managers or PAs who knew nothing about direction ... and have scripts written by someone who was sent to the nearby sari-sari store to buy  patis. Kakabanas ang mga bagong artista. They all 'act' the same if you can call that acting ... How did they become 'stars' ? Thanks to Kuya Germs I guess... since That's Entertainment, a lot of 'walang k' have been gracing our movies and tv shows. Gone are the days when you are really talented to make it big. Ngayon, anak lang ng artista, pwede na. Oh well ...

I wanted the old movies ... with substance, better acting and stories, well directed.

There is a certain Pinoy film that I would personally like to be immortalized in DVD. I can't remember the title so I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this one. It's a pretty old movie, and it has a superhero in it. Hindi ko tanda kung si Darna or Supergirl.  The one scene that I can't forget is this town being terrorized by a gigantic frog. One of the terrified citizens fleeing the monster is a very young (but already fat) Ike Lozada. He's barefoot, holding his slippers in his hands because he doesn't want to ruin them because they're new. He gets stepped on by the frog.

Anyone remember this film?

dude!  i saw that movie when I was a kid!  I think I saw it on channel 7 during one of those early afternoon showings.

i remember it distinctly coz it kinda freaked me out.  it had that freaky music pa like a 50's monster pic (which it probably was).  very gory.  with ike lozada bleeding and blood coming out of his mouth pa.

does anyone remember Dabiana?

Joey,

This is embarassing but what the heck. The movie you're talking about is actually  SUPERGIRL starring Pinky Montilla. She is a teen starlet of the 70's who did
action/martial arts films and all solo starrers!! Quite a feat for someone really chubby and ordinary looking.  I know that movie very well because I had watched it (hiya) several times on tv and you're right GMA 7. The special effects are really funny (if you watched it at present times) and the acting super hammish and cheesy, especially when Odette Khan creepily plays with her eyes like they're about to pop out from their sockets ha ha ha Grin

I would like to see Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara starring Dawn Zulueta.  Gave me the willies!

Singit lang...Just saw Radyo on VCD (orig) the other day and man what a big rip off!  Sound quality sa mono, the acting of Jeffrey Quizon and Booba Ruffa Mae Quinto was really the pits...Si Jeffrey Quizon dami na napatay pero si Booba di ko alam kung bakit di mahabol at mapatay...And mind you during their chase scene parating nadudulas si Epi. Huh... well, understandable na si Booba mabagal tumakbo because of her kajungas...mabigat talaga pre...tapos ang hamon na kinakain ni Booba na supposed to be a leg of a victim e napakasarap tingnan parang Xmas ham...honeycured pa ata...it was more of a comedy than a suspense thriller!  Nagenjoy ako sa mga alaska ng mga katabi ko! Grin Grin Grin

If you are not a movie critic, watch this!  It will make you an instant Siskel and Ebbert or Leonard Maltin! Cool

Didn't Susan Roces star in the original Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara ?

As for the movie you watched, sorry for enduring that torture. Try not to expect too much next time. You know how predictable movies can be ... especially if the scene involves the leading character ... foreign movies or not.

Oh don't give up that fast ! Just try to be careful what you watch/rent next time. Not all are that bad .. and certainly, there are still people out there, like the Brash Young Cinema (tama ba joeypogi?),  trying to make better movies for folks with better taste in movies like you. Like what Rico J. Puno once said ... may bukas pa !
