Into The Blu...

Anyone still using this player?

It won't play my Troy Director's Cut BD so I reckoned it's time to do an update but it seems that Samsung's US site is down.

Can anyone share ver. 2.7 or 2.8 downloads?

I still have a copy at home, just don't remember what version. Downloaded it last month. Will PM you just later when I get home if I have the version you need. Smiley What version are you currently using? And do you get any error messages or just the usual black screen?

Upgraded the firmware early this year - ver. 2.5

At first, it says the disc cannot be played (Troy). Tried it back, played for like 20 minutes then froze.

Look forward to your PM, TIA!

I purchased a second hand Samsung BDP 1500 Region B/4 as indicated at the back.

I got hold of a region A BD and tried playing with it even if I knew it wasn't going to play (as i tested region 3 DVD and did not play), but the good thing is that the BD played and I've managed to watch and finish it.  This is the only region A BD I have and no way to test it again.

Is there a Region Free Samsung BD player?

Concern now for me is, can I now buy Region A BD's?

Hi bro!

I think RB/4 Samsung BD players can be hacked but only for DVDs. You can make it region free, log on to video help for that. Also, make sure that the BD you played is RA because it might be region free.

As for me, I'm contemplating on quitting the high def world until the time comes when ALL BD players become as efficient as their standard def counterparts. I spent 4 CDs & 2 USBs trying in vain to update the firmware. I don't know what's wrong but the last time I upgraded to 2.5, it took only about 20 minutes.

Cheers!

Thanks TOP 20!

It is really Region A BD as indicated in the box.  My other BD's are region free and I just bought a Region B BD and tested it off succesfully.

I will try to borrow another Region A BD to test.
