I haven't researched the egreat, but on the other two i choose (just ordered online) PCH. TViX 7000a, based on the reviews, is the most stable media player in the market now. For its price, you have usb slave, HDMI 1.3, sata connection. HDMI 1.3 is the best selling point here for DD TrueHD and DTS MA. But it can't bitstream the signals yet, which made the early adopters disappointed. Of course in the future, FWs might be released but no definite time yet. I choose PCH because of the price/performance ratio. All mkv files in my collection doesn't contain HD sound files, i think the coax will do just fine. I'll just throw in 750gb IDE HDD and enjoy the mkvs.

hi sir, thank you for your inputs. I have decided to go with egreat eg-m31a for this site's reviews (link shown below) and mainly because it is an updated version of the popular popcorn hour a-100. http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=556and http://www.mpcclub.com/banner_log.php?id=5076Made 2 unit orders already and the only problem now is waiting for my full billing receipt from them so that I could pay them through paypal, which according to their ecommerce site takes about 1 week to process. Until this has been settled no delivery will be scheduled. Thanks

Beta firmware is out, with TrueHD and DTS MA passthrough! But they screwed up regular DTS Anyway, it's coming sooner rather than later Bang for the buck it's hard to beat the NMT players. You just have to choose the one with the hardware features you want, or wait till they sort themselves out and start releasing the 2nd generation NMT players.

The remaining big question for me is the taxes and customs duties that will be applied when the shipment hits our shores. I haven't read anyone mentioning this. This will probably come in declared as an electronic item.
I've tried ordering DVDs from Amazon before and the worse thing I've experienced is that the post office asked me to pick it up and pay P30 pesos fee. I hope you guys don't get charged exorbitant taxes.

$20 charge for TT is normal. Bank charges of the receipient bank for TT is also normal. Medyo mataas lang ang $25 I think, but probably that is the policy of Malaysian banks. So unless you send a huge amount of money by TT, medyo lugi ka sa bank charges on both sides. If you pay by credit card, of course wala etong charges na to. Lugi ka lang sa exchange rate.

i hate this purchase as i still have to pay duties before getting it from DHL. the declared value was already lowered by the shipper but it still added cost. i regret why i did not buy one from ert. i was lured by the US$125---750gb hdd (which is not available locally) plus the pre-loaded HD contents---a big mistake

This I experienced when I used to order PS3 games from playasia based in HK. I chose DHL in my very first time to order from that site, I was taxed P500+ from a P3k purchse. I have since ordered four times na with Fedex as the courier, no tax at all. Mas mabilis pa.

just going to recount our experience in bringing in another nmt player (for comparison purposes -- you can see which specifically at the shop). our package was held by customs because they claimed that it had to undergo inspection and certification by ntc (i think, or whoever certifies telecommunication equipment), after a few days waiting, we were told that we were to pay 8k. we managed to haggle it down to 6k which still made it a very expensive nmt (annoying, not to say the least).
we managed to receive 2 units of pch's via dhl with no problems. i'm thinking that the last nmt, being shipped by dep-ex, was either mislabeled or perhaps they didn't handle it properly or whatnot. in any case, i'd bet on dhl for now (or even fedex, they never failed me yet, though i did get taxed for my xbox 360 wheel).

we play the dvds packaged into iso formats. i'm not sure if it can play .vob files practically though, seeing that vob files in a dvd can sometimes consist of four separate 1gb vob files.
i'll give this a shot right now, actually :>

hey, it worked!
i shared drive d (my bd drive), and it showed video_ts and audio_ts. pressing ENTER (on the remote) played the disc.
mind you, this is a pirated dvd (un-encrypted, or backup dvd). will try to see if it works with original drives (though i doubt it).

Thanks! bili ka na lang ng slim dvd-rom (usb2.0) yung pang laptop mura na lang ata ganun (more or less 2k i think).. para you dont need to open your pc to play your MKV's na nasa dvdr's..

okay, never got to answer the question earlier, but here's how you do it: - go to My Computer - Right-Click on the drive - Click on Sharing and Security (depending on the version, might just be Sharing; Vista is a bit more difficult to configure) - Click on the 'Share this Folder on the Network' - Click 'Apply' and 'OK' of course, this is a bit more involved, but that's the gist. on your pch, you can go to network sharing and browse to that pc you just set up the share on, and you should be able to add your cd drive share. then go back to sources and browse until you find the Video_TS folder. Pressing ENTER on your remote would start the DVD. i've tried this with pirated region 0 dvds. its rather hit and miss, mind you: some region 0 dvds do not work (live 8 for example, its original) but it worked with sting's all this time (region 0 but also original). your mileage might vary. i still prefer using anydvd to rip the dvds (and unencrypt), that way, its all in your hdd and you won't have these issues to annoy you. Congrats sir! Can the PCH play an mkv file in dvd being played in an optical drive in another pc? Pano ang connection? Thanks!

hi sir, how did u managed to get the popcorn from DHL without paying tax? mine was labeled "computer parts" by Palvision-Malaysia. the tax was high due to the added cost of the 750gb hdd that was installed in it. kindly please pm me the walkaround? thanks, weng
